Hola! Que tal? Well, you're here so I'll just assume you want to know who I am.
Name: I use quite a few. My favourite is my usual penname, Musouka (it means "day-dreamer"), but here you can call me Lily.
Age: 19
Gender: female
Orientation: lesbian (It shows in my writing. It's also caused some family problems. If anyone's going through something similar and want's to talk, I'm more than happy to talk.)
My AIM is: Lily and Shadow
My email is: lily_and_shadow@hotmail.com
If anyone wants to talk to me, feel free.
I speak English (obviously), some Spanish, a little Japanese, and I'm starting to teach myself Russian.
I'm a college sophomore.
I'm an aspiring novelist and I occasionally write short stories and poems. As such, constructive criticism is appreciated. I'll probably start out posting short stories, since all I have is hand written drafts of my novels right now and I'm really unmotivated when it comes to typing stuff that's already written out.
I have somewhere around 3,000 pages of hand-written rough drafts in my room and even more in the basement. I've also started a character registry, which has 87 characters so far and I'm not finished. I've been writing since the seventh grade and I spend a pretty decent amount of time on it. My muse is a demon named Toki. We have a love-hate relationship. On one hand, he's the loudest, most annoying creature you will ever meet. On the other hand, he can be very kind when I have writer's block. The only thing is his habit of showing up in my writing... Watch for him. When he does show up he's not hard to spot.
As noted before, I have 143 original characters and counting. I have a rather odd way of naming them. At least, I think it's odd. In my older work (7 to 3 years ago) I didn't really have any say in my characters' names. They just told me what to call them. In my more recent work (3 years ago to present) I name almost all of my characters in a very deliberate manner. I still get the occasional "Hi! Here's my name," but more often than not there's a meaning behind the name I've chosen for a character. Sometimes it's readily apparent, sometimes it might only make sense to me. But that's what makes them mine and that's part of what makes them interesting to work with. Most of my more recent work is full of odd meanings. You just have to know how to look for them.
I'm a music addict. I love rock, gothic rock, classic rock, old pop, metal and some alternative and indie rock.
A little about me: My favourite animals are wolves and dragons. I don't like warm colours. I spend most of my time reading or writing. I love studying other cultures because I like knowing why people do the things they do. I spend a lot of time thinking about odd things. I'm quiet and shy around people I don't know, but I'm loud and crazy around people I'm close to. I'm a dog person and I hate cats. I love being outside. I don't like hiking so much as just wandering around in the woods. I want to be a forensic anthropologist. And I'm supposed to be smart, but I regularly make a fool of myself because I'm no good in social situations.
To give you an idea of my sense of humour, I very nearly put the following as the summary for the horror story I posted today. "Sometimes houses tell stories. Sometimes they just eat their owners." I know, not funny. But I thought it was.
A note on my writing: I tend to be very touchy about letting people read my work. I've been hurt quite a few times by people I was close to and trusted. To me, writing is incredibly personal and because I've been hurt so many times I'm usually very apprehensive about sharing my work. I simply ask that you be kind. Don't give me crap about same-sex relationships or self-destructive habits in my characters and my work. I welcome and encourage criticism, but please keep it constructive.
That's about it. Jya ne!
~Lily
Story stuff: So I've been inspired. I've started writing a story with as many cliches as possible. Like, everything in this is going to be a cliche. I should have the first section posted soon. : )
