Author has written 6 stories for Romance, and Essay. LATEST NEWS: I updated a bit (though still a sad amount) during my between-semesters break, but now I'm back in school. Despite that, I'll try to write as much as I can, when I can. Hopefully we don't fall into another lull. I feel like everyone's already forgotten about me. D: I'll also have quite a bit of time to write during the summer, but very little in between, during the actual semesters. In other news, the second round of the Sweet-Revolution Awards is almost here! Check out the current winners and nominate the new ones! A/N: Does anyone (other than me. Sue me, I'm curious) actually read these? Well, sometimes I get the odd PM saying this person or that read something silly on my page and enjoyed it. It is for those wonderful people that I will post things here (that, and I happen to be bored). Personals: Like a lot of slash authors, I'm a girl, I'm straight, and I'm in college. I'm South-East Asian, which means I have that cliche family that's always pushing me to kick ass at academics. Thankfully, I'm a ginormous nerd, so that helps things. I'm an English major and I believe in a religion where a lot of things are wrong (i.e. drinking, doing drugs, etc.). However, as you'll probably notice by the content of my works, I don't like pushing my beliefs on people. So I let my characters grow on their own. :D Penname: I happen to be a big fan of King Arthur, as well as anything to do with his Briton. Makes no sense, I know, being that I'm an American teenager, but that is why I will be henceforth known as TheLadyPendragon. Age: I am officially an American adult (18). I can now sign my soul away. Woo! But I have an old soul. That's why, while other American teenage girls worship Edward Cullen (like, ew), I worship Mordred Pendragon. I so want to be his wife. -Sigh- Occupation: Currently, I'm a full time student. I want to get a job, though. Something to help me pay for my addiction (before you get worried and report me to the authorities, it's books). I'm majoring in English literature, because contrary to popular belief, English can be fun. I think it is, anyway. I also want to be a novelist someday. Will I succeed? You tell me. After all, you guys will either be future fans or future critics. I don't mind if you're both, because I'm happy enough with how I write that I won't hate-mail you for bruising my ego. I'll most likely appreciate you for your words of wisdom -- but only if they're actually wise. I've not gotten any flames yet and I hope I don't, but I think they're kind of stupid and more than a little funny, not to be taken seriously at all. I mean who would take 'omg i hate wut u right! gei secks is rong!' seriously? ;D Hobbies: Reading (a lot), writing (not enough, or so some of you complain), drawing (not well, actually, but I like to doodle), watching TV dramas (mostly crime dramas, as I'm sure I've mentioned in one of my previous ramblings), spending time with my friends (because, despite their quirks, I still like them for some reason...), laughing at people (I'm mean, I know. Boo-hoo). Favorite Novels: Too much to name, but I'll try. The Queen's Thief series (a recent addition that I loved), The Dark is Rising sequence (there need to be more fans for this. I'm saddened by the lack of them), Harry Potter (this warrants mentioning because it was the first novel I've ever read. I'm not so much a Harry Potter fangirl, but I love HarryxDraco together), Artemis Fowl (which is a little like Harry Potter, a wee bit, but is way funnier, so reading it brightens my day), Airman (another recent read. Amazing, simply amazing), I am Mordred (the novel that made me fall in love with Mordred), The Little Prince (which is the cutest children's book I've ever read. No lie), The Mortal Instruments (I'm raring to read the next two books in the series because it was so awesome), Eragon (though I find the recurring death of the uncle in popular modern heroes somewhat amusing. Spider man, Luke Skywalker, Eragon... Who is next?), Havemercy (an awesome slash novel with a breathtaking cover that is reminiscent of some cool role-playing games), etc. I'll add more later. Favorite Genre to Write: I love writing crossover stories on FanFiction (pretty self-explanatory) and I am trying to span out by writing a variety of genre on FictionPress (this site, duh), but I have always had a special place in my heart for fantasy novels. My Writing Signature: Slash is the first thing that comes to mind. King Arthur is next, because, as you've probably noticed, I have a lot of little comments about King Arthur in all my stories (Myrddin in Boy Bride is the Merlin; one of Carmen's favorite novels is Tristan and Isolde; and The Wizard's Apprentice is all about King Arthur). If you are a fan of my fanfictional works, then you know I have a thing for cross-overs. I'm always re-editing my works because I'm very OCD about grammar (thus, my being an English major), so don't be surprised if you re-read something just for kicks and it feels minutely better. I blabber a lot; sometimes I feel like my author's notes are longer than the actual work. I mock myself a lot, because I'm my own worst critic, literally (which comes from being a perfectionist). I like adding in foreign (at least to me, geeky little American that I am) languages to my works, often the ones that aren't as popular as, say, French (i.e. I have some French, some Welsh, and an itty bit of Urdu, more specifically Bengali). A lot of my early works have the girly-boy stereotype, because I got into slash through yaoi, like a lot of fans, and yaoi manga, as you should know, is notorious for its effeminate men. I like character build-up and romance before what I like to call the s-step (sex/smut step), which I why I have no written smut, as of yet. It is planned, though, but not for many, many chapters yet. Why Slash?: Why not? There's nothing wrong with slash if you like it, which I do. Not only do I usually read strictly slash (online, not offline), I write it. Now, someone once suggested it was because I'm sexist. My response: are you flipping serious, I'm a girl for god's sake! Yeah, I was a little pissed-off, mostly since I'm a bit of a feminist (which comes from living in an old-fashioned Asian family). I love really powerful, intelligent female characters in my fics, and you'll notice that, while they're usually side characters, all of my ladies are smart, can take care of themselves, and are ready to give the guys some much needed tongue-lashings if and when required. The reason that I don't write mainly het or just non-slash fiction is pretty simple...I just can't. -Dies- I try, but I seem to suck at it, especially in my own opinion. I just have more fun and more confidence when I write slash. The reason that reviewer thought I was sexist was because I vilified some female characters from pop-culture. I'll do it again. I abhor Bella from Twilight, and I don't like Twilight much either (I read the series way before the hype settled in and it's not that awesome). She's clingy, weak, stupid and a bad influence (ex. every time she sacrifices herself to be such an altruistic person, insert sarcasm here, it usually is needless and causes more trouble for those protecting her dumb-ass; she leads Jacob on selfishly after Edward leaves, and even though everyone's happy towards the end, it isn't cool to do that to anyone; she's way too dependent on Edward, jumping off a freaking cliff just to hear his voice; she is completely against college and a sex-crazed maniac, even getting pregnant. In short, she's a total retard). So I don't write female leads because Meyer and other authors have scarred me for life, and I'm not confident I can keep out of the mold. Also, well-written published slash is hard to find, especially in my favorite genres. Published non-slash, however, is a dime-a-dozen, so why waste time trying to find a diamond-in-the-rough non-slash on FP, when you can have an edited novel by a professional author? But I'll let you guys in on a secret: I have an ongoing fic which has no slash (though slash and het hints, both). However, it isn't on FP, does have a male lead (as I said, I can't write the main character as a girl), and romance takes a backseat to the actual plot (which is pretty heavy). I hope to get it published someday. On this profile, though, I'm slash all the way. =D My Critiquing Policy: I love ConCrit, I really do. It's useful and it helps me improve as a writer. Dare I say it, it's even better than those reviews that say, 'OMG, I want to rape you, you're that awesome!' which I did get one time. >_> Because, like I said, it really helps me get better and I like hearing your advice. So, if you think I suck, don't hesitate to tell me why. If it's because you don't like what rather than how I write (meaning the slash sub-genre), then I'll tell you to push the back-space button. If you truly have something you think I should change, then by all means point it out. I will most likely take a second look and realize that you're right and then I will virtually slather you with kisses for being such a awesome reader. It's happened before. However, if I disagree with what you point out (say, for instance, you'd like me to change something both I and most of the other readers seem to like), I will politely thank you and agree to disagree. But, the point is, if you have something to say, please say it. I love getting reviews and PMs and anything at all. Just don't get too mad at me if you email me and I take a while to reply. Life has me by the hair -- I never realized college was so tedious! In case you're curious, I am also a voracious reader. If you add me to whatever, or review whatever, I will look through your profile and favorites for stories that interest me (it doesn't always happen, though, so don't hold me to this). I am also pretty good about reviewing -- if I like it, I will review it. I just have to catch up, since I rarely review every chapter (though I will do that most of the time after I catch up) unless I have something to say. My Personal Quote (made by me): Random is my god. I pray to him on Tuesdays. Why Tuesdays? Because it's random. Links to Die For: 1. Petition against plagiarism, because we know it sucks. Honestly, I hate people who think it's okay to steal others' ideas. Stupid people! Grrr. But seriously, you should all go sign the petition, simply because none of us would want our work stolen. 2. Guess what? I'm a judge for the awesome Sweet-Revolution Awards! It's similar to the Some Kind of Wonderful (SKoW) awards in that it's for deserving stories on FictionPress. The only difference is that it is specifically for slash stories! Woo-hoo! So, please visit the website and begin nominating your favorite stories. You can't nominate yourself, sorry. The first round is over and the second round has started, so nominate! You can send nominations to the SRA's official email address: sweet.revolution.awards@gmail.com. Um, that's all. Go forth into this world and prosper! 3. Favorite story of the month and the first favorite of the new year. The Heart of Camelot by Storyteller Knight. Okay, you guys know how obsessed I am with Arthurian fiction? This has me hooked and I'm not even close to halfway through yet...and it's not even slash! I know and you know it must be awesome -- more than awesome -- for me to waylay my no non-slash on FP rule (as mentioned earlier, not against it, but usually you can find way better by just picking up a published book). So take a look. Incomplete Stories: Considering my ever so slow pace, these may as well stay forever incomplete. -Is shot- 1. Boy Bride: A gay prince, an unintentionally sexy foreigner, and the meddling Wizard who just wants them to get laid. Everyone else is just along for the ride. A fairy-tale unlike any you've ever read. MxM, Slash, Possible Mpreg. 2. The Wizard's Apprentice: A curse to his father and a tool to his mother, Prince Mordred has always been a servant of fate. Upon meeting a certain seductive Roman Wizard, apprentice to the great Merlin himself, he realizes that one must make his own fate, and together they recreate destiny. -Slash- MxM 3. Silent Song: Carmen survived the tragic accident that stole his parents and his voice. He thinks he can now handle anything. Throw in a playboy therapist and an overprotective, mysterious new guardian. Now he's not so sure anymore. Slash, MxM. Rating may increase. Stories I've Beta-ed: I'm no longer taking offers. I just started college and...damn, I'm busy. However, authors I'm beta-ing for at the moment will stay in my repertoire because I don't want them to have to find another beta. 1. Dancing Snowflakes by Cuenta: A lesbian, coming-out story. The author is really good at what she does, and I love beta-ing the chapters. Please take a look. 2. Three Ain't Too Much by dany-ceres: A slash story about a guy whose boyfriend doesn't allow him to have kids or pets. He finds an abused kid in an alley and decides to take him in, despite his boyfriend's dislike. I like kids and I like slash, so stories with gay men adopting kids tickle me. :D 3. You Might Enjoy Some Madness for a While by Tinyyellowboxes: A goofy theater techie and a perfectionist start a somewhat awkward, bumpy relationship that makes the rest of us squeal. It's adorable, I swear, and it goes without saying between TYB and I that Ace is my fictional pet. :3 You'll like it. Some Awesome Piccies: Which are most likely not by me, since I'm lazy and really suck at them. Feel free to draw my characters, if you're ever bored or something. I will praise you terrifically. Just don't forget to mention me. -_- I'm a little astounded by how much Jib is loved, haha. Jibriel from Boy Bride by Aviatorlisa -- whom you must check out, being that she is my favorite debuting artist online. Jibriel from Boy Bride by eVil-uNicorns -- who drew the most adorable pic of Jib in the snow. He is so cute! Jibriel from Boy Bride by XxGOTHICxANGELxX -- who kindly drew him for me to relieve my stress. :) He looks adorable in his winter clothes. :D Talk to me: I'm pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Just kidding! But I am...kind of nice. I mean, I am most of the time. Feel free to email me at theladypendragon@live.com. I'd love to hear from you. You can add me to MSN, too, if you want, though my messenger doesn't work so I can't chat with you. I will promise to always reply, if you really need to ask me a question or you don't feel comfortable commenting here, but don't get upset if I take a while. I'm pretty busy and will probably remain so for a bit of time, so I don't check my email that often, and when I do, I attempt mass replies (I say attempt because I fail; my inbox, at the moment, has 200 messages, almost all pertinent to either FP or FF). -_- Fanfiction: My fanfiction. As mentioned above, I love writing crossover fanfiction. And I'm pretty good, too. But I'm on here more than there. Fiction: You're already here. You don't need to follow this link. But while you're here, don't you think you should read something? -Hypnotic eyes- LiveJournal: My LJ is pretty messed up. It has all -- and I mean all -- of my fanfics/original fiction/art/etc posted in it. Big, big mess. Most of that stuff, if you really want it, can just be linked to from here. DeviantArt: I'm honestly not much of an artist. Writing may be the only thing I'm good at. Kind of. When I was younger, supposedly I had a lot of talent, but that was without training. I never tried to further myself in art, so my talent kind of dwindled. Go here at your own risk. | |||||||||||
