Why those tattoos?: Butterflies and Bats have both been tied into vampire legends for hundreds of years. People from many cultures believed that vampires could transform into winged creatures, two of which were butterflies and bats; thought the butterfly myth took the backseat once the bat one became more popular, it is often thought that butterflies would be more effective.

Rhea:

Despite all her pretending, Rhea really isn't anything like the other sixteen-year-olds that she knows. Having looked after her younger brother and sister, along with her blind father, since her mother's suicide, she's accepted a greater responsability than any of her friends know. She has trust issues, but tries to be friendly and polite anyway. Her aim in life is to support her family to the best of her ability, and to make sure that they're all safe a happy. She's often a little too selfless, and will brush of health issues of her own- no matter hoe severe- with little interest.She only really has two close friends, Lily and Adam, and both know not to ask about her life outside of school. She sometimes finds it hard to believe that even the two of them have accepted her, but they have.

Tyler:

Tyler thinks, since the death of his parents and absence of his brother, that he is a danger to anyone that is willing to get too close. He's taken blaming his parents death on himself a little further than most people, and so tries to ostracise people. The exception? Gangs. Tyler has been in gangs since the young age of twelve, simply because they give him a sense of belonging. They offer him the family and friends that he so desperately craves, and though he'd never admit it, he likes hanging out with other people. He'll often do things to help others, but never with them knowing about it. He doesn't want praise, or thanks, simply to merge into the shadows and help when he can get away with it. No-one really knows what to make of him, and that's the way that he likes it.
