My favorite author is George R.R. Martin, half because he's an amazing character author, and half because he's essentially a serial killer of his own characters. Pick up Game of Thrones by him NOW. You shall not be disappointed.
My favorite books are much of Martin's stuff, but I also like such literary classics as Farenheit 451, Lord of the Flies, and Lord of the Rings. I also like a bit of the Riftwar Saga by Raymond E. Feist, and several other books which I can't be bothered to name.
I have been writing since I was around eight years old (thank you, Dragon Ball Z... -assorted snorts and giggles-) and have truly found a passion in it. My current work right now is Severity, which will be my top priority when it comes to writing.
My goal on Fictionpress is to receive criticism and deal it out where necessary. If you hate me for what I say about your story, I'm sorry, but all I offer is neutral criticism and truth, the latter of which oftentimes is praise. If you can't take the facts that you need to improve, you're not ready to be a writer. I won't ever falter in pointing out your story's strengths, but rest assured that I will certainly never falter in pointing out your story's weaknesses. I don't do this to be mean, I do it to improve the online writing community in my own small way. Hopefully, in doing so, others will help me improve as well. And on that note, if there are more people on the web that criticize for criticism, we may someday find ourselves on an internet purged of vampiric yaoi/shota shounen ai wish-fulfillment mary-sue-infested purple-prose novels. No offense, ladies and gentlemen, but it's overfuckingdone.
I wish all of you the best of luck on your stories, and I hope that I will some day have the privilege to read and review them. Everyone on this site has the potential to be an amazing author, but there's one damn thick line in between having potential and utilizing it. Keep writing, reflecting, and improving, folks, and you might just cross it.
