Hello, I'm FellowMan. (Update--Miss ya Mwarts!)
I take Literature seriously (never take me seriously however--I never do--takes the chuckle out of life), and they have been my common (addictive) study for nearly two decades now (one more year till I can drop the 'nearly'). For me, literature is more than just a hobby, it seems like the last magic spring left after the cynical droughts of adulthood (wow, got a bit flowery there).
If I don't have a good book around to read, and have a spare moment; I will at times come on this site and read your works (muha-and-ha).
I find this site interesting in how it opens up a world of raw literature-fresh as a baby's gurgles (but less drool 'let's hope')-they're bracing. I thank you all who have the courage enough to post a piece of your mind up for all the world to look and prod at. It's lovely how there are still people out in this world that desire to refine their rhetoric, and use imprecise thought as a commencing medium for words that combust: into shattered perceptions and innovative probabilities (oh baby).
--I will post some of my works here: after busy time, and after my rompings out about the world (by world I mean town).
My list of favorite authors tends to surprise my friends since my style is more of the satire sort. I adore Longfellow's works--The Golden Legend--oh, wow: the way he writes: magic. The Four Loves--by C.S. Lewis (how I adore his work!) is by far one of the most well thought out pieces of writing I have ever laid eyes on. I also love J. Brel's poetry stylings: he has truly mastered the art of passion in the way he words his sentences, and the way he places them together--is stunning.
Here's a clean-cut list of authors I admire:
Solzhenitsyn, A. Remizov, Césaire, Brel, C.S. Lewis, K. Will, Tolkin, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Longfellow
ah, good ol' JRR Tolkin! zombie tolkin shall walk again--have a spot of tea, we will. wutwut--pippip
So about me?-I'm Jewish, I don't speak Yiddish (except for some here/there terms "Schlemiel"(and a wee bit of Hebrew)) I do speak French, thus my love of J Brel. My major? Lit! Art! Eng! IL Studies! And they keep changing--tune in next week folks!--hum perhaps monkey trainer--that a major(?) I am writer/artist/musician--artsy fartsy. Music likes: Indie, folk, oldies (Beatles before the beards)
What do I write?: Sci-fi, Romance, Novelettes, poems, prose, essays, blah stuff, good stuff, stuff I hate, babbles, lots of satires--Mount Satire--population: moi
Goal: To make others feel that life is not one big frown fest (also to just spill out my brain rambles--they get cramped all cooped up in me noggin) . And for them to see just how amazing they really are! Why?:C.S. Lewis once wrote (paraphrased)"Every person you see will one day either become like a creature from you darkest nightmares, or like a creature so wondrous you would be greatly tempted to worship it." I battled depression for a little over a year, in the past, but what really got me over it was the thought (and my faith) of how amazing everything and everyone is, we exist, and that in its self spell-binds me :) dramatic sigh--
So--Hope you enjoy my pile of random stuff: I just sort of went through my notebooks and grabbed a few pieces I had done for my profs or contests, put them in a blender and voila!--a wide rang of my works; I'd like to think no two are quite a like "style-wise", since I like to experiment--however...meh--Anyways, I love to do poetry, and they are normally not that long, so feel free to browse through a few, I love to hear what other people's take on them are.
Furthermore: My goal is to make you Mr./Ms. HappyCheeks, so your opinions count :D that's right I won't poopoo anything.--at least not out loud (in cyber world and/or real world)--:)
quotes I have like for: "I gets to tend the rabbits now George?"--Steinbeck--"Never take your self too seriously."--unknown--
And one of my fav long quotes: Literature cannot develop between the categories 'permitted'--'not permitted'...Literature that...dares not pass on to society its pains and fears, that does not warn in time against threatening moral and social dangers, such literature does not deserve the name literature; it's only a facade. Such literature loses the confidence of its own people, and is published works are used as waste paper instead of being read."--Solzhenitsyn--
