Hello.
I'm Somnium. o_O It sounds a bit weird, but I like it. (Latin for The Dreamer, which was suggested to me by my best friend, Juls ;D...quite sweet, I think)
I'm a girl, seventeen years old and I'm living in London. yay. I am Caucasian with mostly of Dutch, a lot of Portuguese, and a little French and German blood; a whole mixture of things as most people tend to be these days...I used to live in South Africa (until I was 13) and was not brought up to speak English, oh no. I was taught Afrikaans before learning English which i am eternally grateful for.
So I guess I'm South African. (And if there are any South Africans out there, or Afrikaans speaking people, feel free to talk to me!!)
I have a few stories that I'm busy with but I've only posted one which is shown below. (Maybe I'll post the others, but we'll see how things go.)
If there is something in one of the new chapters that doesn't quite make all the sense it possibly could, don't worry, I will pick up on it and fix it...hopefully, other wise feel free to alert me to my blunder, i will be much obliged.
HOW TO TELL A GIRL YOU LOVE HER:
Still very much a work in progress so it will be changed and replaced a lot.
That little summary box that i had to fill in before posting the story is so SHORT so I will explain the story on here a little:
LONGER SHORT SUMMARY:
Telling someone you love them can be one of the easiest thing in the world, or the hardest; but when it has to be done, it has to be done...
21 year old Christiaan Wyman is a bit of a sorry soul.
He is very good looking, very smart but not very happy.
As a boy he was naturally quiet and composed, relaxed, a bit of a dark horse. Not being very talkative and always a bit of a loner, he only had a small circle of friends friends, including Addison Newman, a pretty girl who used to live on the neighbouring farm.
Not a day would go by when they would not hang out and so something crazy.
They met when they were eight and Addison Newman was the complete opposite of Chris.
She was confident and talkative and her presence seemed to fill a room completely the moment she stepped in. But its because they were so different that they got on so well. They complimented each other. Each compensated for the things the other lacked and so they made a great team in any situation and the adventures they had, the things they did could fill a hundred pages.
But Chris was an idiot.
Just once.
And he lost her.
When his mother died suspiciously, it was ruled an accident.
Chris knew it wasn't.
He knew that his father had killed his her but could do nothing about it. His father terrified the fifteen year old boy. Chris hated being at home alone with him and living on a large, secluded farm in Namibia didn't help either.
Chris became more withdrawn, more intense. He had to, to survive.
To people who didn't know him he seemed mysterious.
Girls loved it.
Addison didn't. (even though she was a girl)
She wanted her old friend back but when it became evident that he wasn't going to return any time soon, they stopped hanging out and as the years went by, their paths separated more and more.
Chris doesn't become a doctor like his father planned. But he joins the army instead...and paid for it by being kicked out of the house and shot in the shoulder.
What kind of a person would shoot his own son? Well, 7 years after having seen Addison last, he realises that she is the missing element in his life, he realises that she was the only person he wanted to know, the only girl he has ever loved.
He decides to go looking for her. Only two problems
1. She's not even in the country any more.
2. As attractive as he is, he's never been even vaguely good at the whole "expressing you feelings" thing, especially to a girl he hadn't seen in years, a girl who may not be the same
