Author has written 16 stories for Life, Humor, Nature, Young Adult, General, and General.

Hi there.

I am currently an English major and work as an English tutor at my university. I have always dabbled in writing, even from a very young age. I subconsciously edit everything, and I blame my OCD of misspelled words due to winning the spelling bee in the fifth grade. It is truly a blessing and a curse. (chuckles)

I adore reading, sometimes more than eating or sleeping. So I guess I should say, "Hi, I'm Lauren and I'm a reading addict." There you go people. I admit it. The only time I ever was grounded from something was when my mom hid "Harry Potter" from me in her kitchen cabinets. (Don't worry I found them in record timing, and no... they were NOT in the cupboard under the stairs. Hee hee.) So, yes, I guess you could say that I've always been a rather deranged English enthusiast.

I love to write almost as much as I love to read. I mostly love to write poetry, but I'm in the process of working on a fiction piece. However, writing creative works is kind of on hiatus due to having to write about Derrida, Foucault, and Freud at the moment for university. I have a myriad of ideas for stories and have a journal specifically for these "brain hurricanes" which cause me to lose sleep until I write them down. Cheers!

Some of my favorite authors are:

- J.K Rowling (Her symbolism and complexity are INSANE! She's the quintessential literary genius, in my opinion.)

- Stephenie Meyer (Kudos for golden-hearted vampires. The idea of Carlisle's character blows my mind. It's so paradox.)

- Lois Lowry (Ah... "The Giver" what a classic. Yay for distopias.)

- Tawfiq Zayyad (Arabic Poet- Read "A Million Suns in My Blood"; it will blow your mind.)

- Billy Collins (His poetry always makes me chuckle. Read "An Intro to Poetry.")

- Erma Bombeck (Hilarious humorist- I wish I could have been BFFs with this lady.)

- Shakespeare (Huzzah for Hamlet! I never tire from reading his "To be, or not to be..." speech. Simply brilliant.)

- Moliere (French playwrite- Read "That Scoundrel Scapin"; it's hilarious.)

Snaps, I could go on forever! Let's just say, if you ever need to know something good to read, let me know. I'll hook ya up. Oh man... I sound like a drug dealer, don't I? What can I say... literature is my fix. PAH! Happy reading!

--Thank you to all of my readers! It makes my day to hear your opinions on my work. I'd be happy to return the favor. If you have a particular piece that you would like me to review, then let me know. Happy reading!
