For anyone who knows me well, it will be of little surprise to find that I rarely publish actual stories or poems. While I have a few moments of inspiration, my best writing (naturally) stems from what I care most about. Therefore, most of what I post here will be essays or notes from lectures that I've given about various subjects. If you don't agree with me and are convinced that you never will, then don't bother to read them. It probably won't do anything but piss you off and cause you to want to send me hate mail. But if you're looking for an honest (and yes, fairly radical) opinion about some pretty hot issues, why not give them a try?
I'll do my best to spread out the publishing of these kinds of documents... after all, I have to keep you thirsty for more, right?
UPDATE: Yes, I have published a poem. But don't worry, I will counteract this blatant act of creativity by quickly adding a multi-chapter talk about some classic novels that no one has ever heard of.
7/16/08 ...barely...
This thought has been nagging at me for some time, so I thought I'd express it here. It's theorized that the first organizims on Earth slowly poisoned themselves by producing oxygen and releasing it into the atmosphere. Then came the dinosaurs, who only got so big because of the abundant oxygen. They used the oxygen and turned it into carbon dioxcide, to the point where they would have probably needed to get alot smaller (but then they died and left their bodies to liquify and power our homes). This mix of carbon dioxcide and oxygen prevented the dominance of either plants or animals, eventually yeilding us, eaters of both. Isn't it possible that changing one's environment (yes, even to our detriment) is a necessary evolutionary step? Every time a major event takes place in the history of the world, it seems to be the fault of the species that has come to dominate it. Inside, we're just like those first plant-like organisms. So, is global warming such a bad thing? Or is it possible that our descendants will be the better for it?
Not that I believe in global warming anyway.
Now that I have that off my chest...
