Hello everyone,

I'm SoulSecret and I just got this account, so I'm obviously quite new to Fiction Press. But I'm certainly not new to writing.

Ever since I was about eight or nine years, I have expressed myself through personal writing. I consider writing to be an art form, practically sacred, through which a carnal release of emotion and energy can be expressed and captured for future perusal. Therefore, people who do not take writing seriously (i.e. careless grammatical errors, unvaried vocabulary, lack of effort in crafting their work) bother me greatly, and I prefer not to read their prose.

Two quotes about writing in which I fully believe:

-"There are many reasons why novelists write - but they all have one thing in common: a need to create an alternative world."

-"We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to."

A little about me:

Name: SoulSecret. I'm here to write anonymously, and I do not wish to be pursued by spammers or internet stalkers. Thus, my real name or those of people in my life will never be revealed in my work or will be changed to protect their privacy.

Age: I'm fifteen years old and a freshman in high school.

Gender: Female

Location: I live in the United States, but again that is all the information you will get on that.

Religion: I am a devout Roman Catholic, and many of my works include religious elements in that respect.

Political View: I am a well-informed Democrat-no question. I subscribe to the Economist and the Week, watch presidential debates as though they are football playoffs, and compete in Domestic and International Extemporaneous Speaking in the National Forensics League. I feel it is my duty as a US citizen and future voter to be aware of the world around me.

Sexuality: Honestly, I do not know. I am definitely attracted to other girls, but I don't know whether I prefer them entirely, like males and females equally, or am just going through some hormonal teenage phase which will eventually pass. Much of the angst I experience from this "unknowing" is visable in my work.

Hobbies: Writing, analyzing music, reading poetry, reading short stories, reading novels, playing puzzle video games, public speaking, running, swimming, praying the rosary, singing hymns, enjoying nature, and mentoring younger children in my community.

And that is about all for now. I hope you enjoy my poetry and fiction pieces. I always appreciate feedback on my work, especially since I don't show most of it to anyone in my real life. If you take the time to review my work, I will offer you the same courtesy. I am here to become a better writer and to express myself freely in my favorite media. In my eyes, the pen really is far mightier than the sword.
