Author has written 10 stories for General, Horror, Supernatural, Fantasy, Song, and General. My profile picture is the only one of me smiling. See, Caya! I can smile! I'm Lin, also known as The Lady Lin, to all the listeners of my music. I've been writing and illustrating my stories since I can remember, but I have just now obtained the confidence to send my work to the public. I have an unexplainable and exceptionaly large passion for the written word. Writing it or reading it, I cannot get enough. Though sometimes I become lazy and I wil not write for a very long time, I pay close attention to detail in each and every one of my stories. I try my best to incoporate symbolism in my stories that hint at what is to become and what has happened. My writing may seem 'sophisticated' at times or simplistic at times, but there will always be a little extra in there that might miss the first read. I want to entertain people and give them something a little more challenging to read, but I'm not saying that my writing is perfect or that good. This is how I get better, gradually. By testing what is right and what needs work, we all get better. This is why I'm here. I want to be like Edgar Allan Poe or Nathaniel Hawthorne or even Nabokov. But I'm not even close. My grammar is flawed completely and my delivery needs major work, but if you will bear with me then I think that my writing could be pleasant for the masses. I really need the comments and advice to help my writing!! Please help!! I'm sorry if any of this came out condescending... that was not my intent and, again, the delivery could have been better. Thank you for your time. I will, eventually, write more. I don't like the Twilight series. Please don't be mad at me. I've read them and I don't like them. I am now writing a story with my friend Caya on Onlysesshomaru26's page. There is only a prologue there now that I wrote most of, but she will be writing the next chapter. Then I will the next...etc. etc. So if you haven't read the prologue to 18, go now!! I'm trying to be active on fictionpress, so if anyone bothers to read this profile, I'll start by introducing my newest creation. It is a bit wordy, but the style is that of the Victorian Era in Paris. This is a story of Revenge, obsession, possession, and love. Do read it because I swear, though it may start off slow, it will be well worth the wait at the big reveal. You must set up plot to make things interesting. So read "The Devil and His Doll" otherwise known as "Le Diable et Sa Poupée". I love French. This a list of the characters because I love them and I need them to be presented as they come into the story. Le Diable et Sa Poupée Hedea Bristow (Bellian de Chaise)- She is a young girl that was trapped in a life of servitude due to her low class status. Her mother died when she was eight years old and she believes she was murdered. She was sent to an auction, away from Master and was purchased by the Le Comte de Badeau who treated her as a true human. She is a nice girl that, after years of isolation, is being thrown into a life she was never prepared for. Also, there are clues to her true use to the Count and it all points down a bad path. She has a tendency to be overly dramatic. The Count (Le Comte de Badeau)- A mysterious aristocrat that purchases Hedea when she was eight. The only thing known about him is that he is new to Parisian society, has a large collection of foreign artillary, and admires Madame Gaudet (though he charms all women and Hedea could have been mistaken when she thought he loved her). He also has a condition when he needs medicine to survive and he entrusts Hedea with the responsibility of carrying these potions. Armande Jean Moreau- The man that Hedea is addressing the entire story to. It is not known where Hedea meets him, but she writes the story to him. Armande's journal lands in the hands of Hedea one day and his story was that he loved a woman named Emilie Lefevre, but was abducted by a band of criminals per the request of Monsieur Lefevre. He was betrayed by his best friend, Maurice Gaudet, but kept a journal where his spirits were kept high with the thought that Emilie still waited for him. Eventually, he loses all hope and realizes that Emilie moved on and he wishes to die. He finds out these occurences when he was taken pity on by the criminals and joined their group reluctantly to get out of his cell. While most of the original criminals that knew of his predicament had long since quit the group, the only memeber left (and Armande's only friend), Celio, told him how he ended up as a prisoner. Seven years from his first imprisonment, he becomes the leader of the group and uses this power to find out what had become of all he knew in his past. He returns to Paris with the help of the Count himself, but it is unknown how the Count helped or when they became acquainted. Hedea notes that Armande became very angered by his stolen youth and life and believes that the Count may be an enemy of Armande now a days because of two events: 1) Armande's journal is in the Count's possession 2) Armande, a noted thief, may have snuck his way into the manor at one pont and the Count is on high alert. Then again, Armande could have died long ago. Armande's fate is unknown at this point, but he is a key character in understanding the connection between all the other characters. Samson- A completely loyal servant to The Count. He does not speak badly of him and he is the only one, besides the Count, that knows Hedea's fate. Monsieur Lefevre- The cruel master of Hedea for the first eight years of her life. He has a secret that he wants to keep under wraps. He is a judge that pardoned hardened criminals (underground bandits) so that they would kidnap Armande Moreau and thus, allow his daughter Emilie to marry a man of higher rank. Hedea worries that Lefevre may remember her from the past, but no one knows just yet if he does or if he merely dislikes her. It has been hinted that he holds financial power over Monsieur Gaudet so that the fate of Armande is never revealed causing him to lose his reputation. He is a cruel, powerful man that will stop at nothing to keep his high status. Hedea believes he murdered his mother. But maybe the Count knows something. Madame Lefevre (Original)- The only thing known about her is that she saved Hedea from certain death and sent her to the auction where the Count met her. She has vanished. She has brown hair compared to the second Madame Lefevre. Madame Lefevre (deux)- A blonde, flirtatious woman that has a very open attraction to the Count. She tries very hard to keep up with the latest fashions and attempts to remain young with mounds of makeup and accessories. She is Lefevre's present wife. The Count is seen spending more time with her and this confuses Hedea who believed that he had a deep attraction for Madame Emilie Gaudet. Soon, Hedea believes that the Count is a scondrel and merely loves out of convenience- wondering where that leaves the accusation that he does, in fact, feed on women (just not their blood). Monsieur Maurice Gaudet- Father of Henri and husband of Madame Gaudet. He has started a company and would love the endless resources of the Count to back him up. He betrayed his best and oldest friend, Armande Moreau, to marry his fiance. He worked with Monsieur Lefevre to get rid of Armande so that Lefevre's daughter, Emilie, would marry someone of higher class than a merchant and because he loved Emilie himself. It has been hinted that Lefevre holds power over him in the form of financial aid and that Gaudet wishes to strike out on his own with the help of Count's resources. He has been described as being bad with money in the past, but we don't really know if that is true. Madame Emilie Gaudet (Lefevre)- An older, yet still lovely woman that is the mother of Henri and the wife of Monsieur Gaudet. The Count admires her greatly and she is a sweet, understanding woman. This woman used to love a man named Armande Jean Moreau but when he was wrongly sent away, she married Monsieur Maurice Gaudet years later. It is not known whether she still holds her prior feelings for Armande, but she is very kind to anyone. It is hard to tell where her heart truly lies. It has been recently found out that she is the daughter of Monsieur Lefevre and the first, brunette, Madame Lefevre. Henri Gaudet (The young Monsieur)- He is a young, naive man that takes an instant liking to Hedea. She is infatuated with him as well, but has more important things pressing on her brain. He was sent to seal a business deal with the Count and met Hedea, under the impression that she was a country aristocrat. He is sometimes more innocent than expected and is a bit of a mama's boy. Although he does have strong feelings for Hedea, Henri is fixed to marry Mademoiselle Penelope Dupont even though he doesn't love her. Mademoiselle Penelope Dupont- A woman that Hedea meets at the opera when she is waiting for the arrival of the Count. She is an heiress with a deaf father that she escorts to the opera even though he cannot hear it. She is concerned about Hedea's stay in Count's manor because Dupont believes that he is a vampire that feeds off of women's blood. Hedea doesn't believe this, causing her to leave until the opera starts, but she then overhears that Dupont is the betrothed of Henri, and Hedea's heart breaks a little. Feburary 16, 2009 I don't think anyone reads my profile, but I needed to update this for a very important message. I've been sick for a while now and though better, I still haven't fully recovered. I will update my French story soon, but I must get well entirely. I also have to get my laptop up an running. Stupid thing has all my work on it and I'm using my mom's laptop right now. Please, don't be impatient. I will update and things will be better afterwards. July 1, 2009 My dear story will be finished this summer. It doesn't need a lot of chapters to complete it, but I hope you like it for what it is. I know it should be really long...I just cannot do that. I would be stretching it too far. I hope that you are enjoying it and I wish it was a better story, however; it makes me so happy that I have even two reviews let alone 24. Thank you! I'm doing this for myself, but you, the readers, really help me continue. July 14, 2009 I'm sorry for the delay on the next chapter, but I've gotten sick once again. This time it is food poisoning, how fitting I'd say. Please be patient and stick with me. I don't have the stomach to sit in front of a screen and type for hours, so a quick update is all I can offer at the moment. I love you guys dearly. October...something or nother...2009 I just finished "The Devil and His Doll"! It's over. It will probably disappoint people but I don't care. It is what it is. I hope you like it, but I know that you cannot please all of the people all of the time. So, for those that have stuck with me, thank you. For those that didn't, thank you as well. Your input was still greatly appreciated. I love you all. Thanks for reading. Over and out Lin | |||||||||
