Writing really is one of the major passions of my life. Sports is another. Living in different places (I am about to start my 6th move as a matter of fact) has helped me expand my knowledge of vocabulary and stories and folklore passed down through families. Some of my stories may be based of such folklore but most probably come from my mind. What can I say? I have a vivid imagination. (:
One of the places that I lived that really sticks to me is Australia. The people there and the atmosphere is so different that in the US. Here we are always moving at a really fast paced life while in Australia everyone just kind of has a 'I could care less attitude'. Hopefully, in my stories I portray some of my different backgrounds and living spaces.
My friends are my life and my support group. One specific friend really likes to read through and edit my stories and is supremely anal. When I don't have an update for her in a week or so approximately, she jumps down my throat. She is the one who really got me started on writing after reading one of the short stories I wrote when I was bored during English. She told me that I had raw talent and if I put my mind to it, I could become a great writer. It is because of her to this day that I pursue my passion in writing. If it weren't for her, I would still be writing short stories in the back of my notebook when I get bored during class. To her do I owe my writing life.
Writing, whether it is journalism or writing stories, has always been a strong point of mine and because of this, English is probably one of my better subjects. I wish to pursue a career in journalism with a minor in photography. Become a journalist who writes books in her spare time. It could happen. My friend, the same one who got mee hooked with my writing, once told me that when I became famous she was going to have me sign her book personally with this long heartfelt letter and she had me practice it but I found that when I went to write it, all I could come up with was, I owe it all to you. If it weren't for you, I never would have gotten half as far as I did and for that, I thank you and am forever indebted to you. I, the most literate person, could only come up with that. But she told me that it was one of the sweetest things she'd ever read and started crying right then and there because she had known it was heartfelt and that it wasn't just some stupid joke. To that girl, you know who you are, thank you.
