Author has written 13 stories for Romance, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Essay, Supernatural, Love, Mythology, and Historical. Hello! My name's Meg. Thanks for visiting my profile and reading my stories. I appreciate any constructive criticism on my works, as it is my ambition to publish something someday. My specialty is writing love stories with a supernatural, historical, and/or mythological twist. A little about me: I love the classics, particularly the dark and gothic, some of my favorites being Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and Shakespeare's Macbeth. I will devour anything Edgar Allan Poe, and I have read Pride and Prejudice so many times I could practically recite it. I adore Greek mythology, Ancient Egyptian history, the Victorian Era, and Alfred Hitchcock movies. I also have a soft spot for Agatha Christie detective novels, the TV series Monk, and the BBC miniseries Lost in Austen. I was a Doctor Who fan in the Russel T. Davies era, but I've sort of fallen away. Favorite movies--Psycho, Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley version), Vertigo, Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas (I have an embarrassing crush on Jack Skellington...), J.J. Abrams' reboot of Star Trek, Up, Edward Scissorhands, and--last but not least--Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Like most people, I know the Harry Potter books backwards and forwards, enjoy LOTR, and Twilight as a guilty pleasure. The Percy Jackson series is another personal favorite with me. In high school, I was a theater geek, my favorite role being Lady Macbeth in our production of Macbeth. It was nice to be the villain for a change--it gets a little tiring when everybody in the school sees you as really "innocent," you know? Muahaha! I also helped lead a very small after-school Writer's Group with my friends. Lest you think I am a very morbid person, allow me to assure you that I am, in fact, a Romantic (in both the literary and colloquial senses), with an appreciation for the sublime, which includes both the dark and light aspects of life, but ultimately I am an idealist. I try to apply Charles Dickens' attitude to my life--I admire his faith in humanity, and I don't particularly think that nihilism and cynicism do the world any good. I got the "most religious" award in my senior mock elections, get along well with my younger brother and older sister, and have two adorable cats. There! Now you know everything. :) One last thing: my little brother just got a fictionpress account and is starting to post his poetry. He's a bright kid, very creative, very smart. His penname's "Titus Andronicus VIII." If you're into poetry, be sure to check him out! I'm making an audiobook recording on youtube of Rick Riordan's "The Lightning Thief" (other books will follow if we get enough viewers). Check us out and tell us what you think! You can find the playlist here: www.youtube.com/user/PersephoneHades99. I've also got a Greek mythology blog at http://ph-audio.blogspot.com. | |||||||
