Author has written 49 stories for Nature, Love, Life, Fantasy, Humor, General, Friendship, Religion, Fantasy, and Kids.

I have an eye of silver, and I have an eye of gold; I have a tongue of reed-grass and a story to be told.

- “Dazzledance” from “When I Was Young” - a cd of Irish children’s songs

I am an undergrad at a small college in the Appalachians, but from the Tidewater region of VA. I love poetry, fantasy, and spirituality; exploring the world for odd words and interesting stories; and rain, crayons, old clothes, toy swords, and semicolons. I think I come off to my friends as some sort of moody hobbit.

My favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien, with Terry Pratchett close behind. And Lewis Carrol, Roald Dahl, C.S. Lewis, Susanna Clarke, Arthur Conan Doyle, Brian Jaques, James Gurney, Lloyd Alexander, Garth Nix... and... so... I read a lot. Including dictionaries. I love reading dictionaries.

My favorite bands are Steeleye Span, whom you've never heard of, and Dead Can Dance (ditto) and my favorite singers are Enya, Maddy Prior, and Ian Anderson. My favorite TV show is Stargate. My favorite movies are 1) adaptations of books that I've read, so that if they're good I can enjoy them and if they're not I can make fun of them and 2) weird fantasy/sci-fi movies from the 80's, i.e. Willow, the real Star Wars, etc.

I also GREATLY DISLIKE most TV, anime, vampires, popular music, and teenage melodrama. I really don't know what I'm doing here.

BTW: my deviantART page: http://white-rose-tree.deviantart.com/ GO LOOK AT MY ARTWORK! Tell me if it's better or worse than my poetry!

Notes on stories (everything else, not mentioned below, is poetry):

Anixtan - a nine-part story of my world, Origal, of the Gateland, and of the feuding ageless houses of Anixtan. My world is odd in that I invented almost everything in it; there are no witches or dragons or vampires, but there are Unlit and Gaudosim and Rain Dancers. I have been part of this story - the Anixtan story, I mean - since I was a very young child. My pen name is that of the main character, translated to English from my language, Ketshien. All I have on here, though, is an experimental drafting of the very beginning. YES, I WILL WORK MORE ON THIS - have been working on shorter other-world stories most recently, however.

Dreamcaught - a children's dream-story, about a child who is trapped inside a dream-world, and must help fix its problems. I have finished the first draft of this story - and about half of it is posted here. I hope to work it into publishable form sometime fairly soon. Please, tell me what you think, and tell me if you want me to post more of it!

Peter's Eyes - surprisingly, not written from a dream... I just have this fixation on blindness and homicidal fairies, apparently. Peter will probably show up again, after I actually do some more research on seeing-eye dogs and such. And yes, it's a 'possum named Opossum (O-poss-um). Set in my hometown, along the river... I don't know how well I described the place?

The White Tower - a little thing I wrote to a writing prompt. I thought I would put it up, as, even if it's not very good (believe me, it's not) or in either of my worlds (Dream or Origal) it's finished. You wouldn't believe how rarely I finish anything.

A Magical Day - another story written from a dream I had, featuring food and fairies (who are NOT nice). Set in early 19th century, as a result of embroidering the hem of a linen dress in the style of that period.

Shadowings - shadow + wings = shadowings. Set in Traum, a bit before Dreamcaught, but not from a dream; inspired by some Worth1000.com images. I'm not certain exactly where the story is going, but it should be interesting wherever it goes.

NEW - the Oru nen Meggidim, or "Spectrum of Stories." A series of Gatelander (Ketshiien) fairy tales, compiled from a lot of random notes and half-finished bits in notebooks. These are classics in Ketshiiu, as well-known as the Grimm's stories are to us; though they may at times be bewildering without a background knowledge of Ketshiien mythology and religion (I'm working on that). They include The Snake Husband, Flying Teeth, A Bowl of Milk, Breaker's Bridge, The House of Dreams, The Three Stones, and more.

Notes on poetry: I promise, some day, to go back and work on those marked unfinished. I haven't, thus far, as I've been writing more new ones.
