Introduction

Hello, everyone!

I've decided to start an account for any poetry that pops into my head. I like them short, sweet and simple. I previously had an account here but hadn't updated in 3 years so I've definitely forgotten the login and password. Feel free to compliment or flame, or both if you wish.

Why the name "Extemporaneous"?

Possibly my favourite word in the entire world, extemporaneous basically means spontaneous or with little preparation. I'll write when I want to, where I want to, and of course what I want to. This is best reflected by my sudden return to Fiction Press after abandoning it for a few years. It's also part of a plan to develop my communication skills.

Written Style

Personally, I really like using metaphors, because it just sounds more poetic to the ear (well, to my ears at any rate!) and oftentimes looks pretty in writing. I don't intend on using any complex rhetorical devices, mostly because I don't really know how to use them well...

I can be a pessimistic person so sometimes that is reflected in my poems. I am NOT emo however, and thus you won't be seeing any poems about depression or suicide or something along those lines. I do like to criticize those subjects and others sometimes, though, perhaps as a satire or perhaps I'm just feeling bored and I found a really good rhyme for it.

I'm a dilettante at heart, so don't expect me to be an expert in any one subject.

I avoid politics because I don't really like it and it's hard to get a clear picture of it. I try to stick to things I have a clear idea about.

That's about it. Enjoy!
