“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”- Christopher Reeve.

I am a junior of Winnetonka High School named Jacob Connelly, but you will all refer to me as S-XIII, for the sake of this sense of false anonimity. I would not list my name at all were it not for my concern of being unable to claim my works... Yes, that means I don't trust you, Fictionpress, you have too much to worry about.

For some reason, my family has considered me a deep thinker since I was seven. I don't know what to say to this, so I just say, "Okay" and assume the role I'm given. And I fit into the shoes quite well. None of my poems have no meaning, none of my stories no moral... But you might find different morals... different meanings, and I hope you do.

My family has always applauded, my observance and ability to connect the dots. I've realized that everything is connected, and that we're causing problems, for a long time now. I don't think this is something that should be praised, I find it kind of sad. After all, there's nothing sadder than a disillusioned child.

Right, so I've been writing poems since eighth grade, when I really got into it. Before then, it was just run of the mill three sentence stories and half thought-out plot bunnies. But I really started writing then. Each of these poems is a precious message I cannot seem to speak aloud, and thus these poems represent the fiber of my being. Ironic, since I've always believed the purest way of communicating emotion is to make a sound. A pure, nonsensical sound... I've always beloved that such a thing is the only thing that could truly, truly carry the emotions of an individual to another without it being corrupted by individual interpretation.

After all, when someone screams in terror, you know they're afraid. When they shout, you know they're angry. When they laugh, you know they're happy. When they... wail, sniffle, etc... You know that... they're sad.
If they eyes are the window to the soul, then the voice is the one-way road leading out, reserved exclusively for emotions.
It's why it's so sad when someone loses their voice... It's almost like losing your soul.

My novels are on hold, with the exception of Animus.

O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O.

I have 64 poems (not counting individual haiku- don't get me started) at the moment. They are, in the order they were published,

A Man in the Red Coat- Met with mostly positive reviews, a war poem.

Many Unaccepted Truths- A collection of Haiku that no one seems to read.

Paper Fruit- Poem about money.

The Lonely Soul- Fate cut the string far too short.

Frozen World, Empty World- The way Earth will be, at this rate.

Walking Down the Street- 'what do you see?'

The Heart of the Hacker- Not everyone's as cold as they appear. Most actually aren't.

The Patient Heart- A moment of silence, for a dying man's unfulfilled promise.

PAINFUL- The seven words which truly describe it.

The Minx, her sister, and a sphinx- Made mostly for fun.

Paper Dolls- Everything has lasting consequences.

Infinity is Naught- There's always enough time.

A HEAVY LOSS- Words which describe it.

Mr. Clown- This poem seems awfully under appreciated, which effectively proves the point it makes.

Chess- Win or Lose.

Lost- No one seems to really get the point I'm trying to make, but poems are open for interpretation.

Twenty Short Years- Once again, cut the string too soon. Live life well, it only takes a second for it to come crashing down.

Circles- Interpret it as you will.

Voyager Scrolls- Trying to capture the effects of solitude in a jar.

The Final Rhyme- Can't give it up til you try just one more time.

Loneliness- Ever felt alone in a crowded street?

Had I Never Had- I want people to think on this, so I won't give its point away.

A Mark that Shall Last through Time - The goal of anyone, really, is to do something that will make them remembered.

Sincerity- I believe that neither the ends nor means matters, but the desired result instead.

Darkest Hour- Funny how everything falls into place.

The Moon is in the Sky- There are few constants anymore.

Silence- Even when there's no sound, there's always that constant ringing in your ear. It makes the lack of any other noise so much worse.

By the Sea- The greatest tragedy of any poet, writer, or artist of any form, of any capability, is when their work is never seen.

The Fall- Another character poem.

Friendship- In spite of fate.

An Angel's Harp- Read it and see.

That Beautiful Smile- "..Which I will do anything to keep on your face."

Resolve- It doesn't pay to be indecisive.

Water- Short it may be, but there is more depth than there seems.

Drift- Remember this poem when you're lost.

Fly Away- I was just thinking of how innocent children are, and how amazingly strong, that when someone says, 'It's okay,' they believe it and put a smile on their face.

Farewell for Now- I have resolved to never say good bye to someone, until they are leaving, in absolute certainty, for eternity. I hate even more how I never seem to be able give my characters happy endings... My characters are the product of my imagination, and therefor are like my conceptual children. When one of them hurts, I feel its pain, and when one laughs, I feel its joy. After all, they're my reflections. But I deviate from the point here, ne?

Dawn is Coming- Twilight, and Twilight again. People say this isn't that original of a saying, as it's the same as saying that time will pass in a cycle. However, twilight can be either dawn or dusk, and therefor it can mean either, making it unique. This poem is a promise that will become reality for anyone with patience.

Simple- I was just thinking how much I liked having so little responsibilities, and all the things around me most take for granted.

Garden of Destruction- I'm not quite sure what inspired this anymore, but I've always felt that humans are so self-destructive. It's pitiful. No matter what you do, your decision's consequences will always harm you. This is knowledge. Wisdom is acknowledging and accepting the knowledge.

And it Fades Away- Don't give up. Never give up. If you quit, it has gone from a possibility (no matter how low your odds, it is never absolutely certain you will lose)... to a certainty. So please don't quit. You never know, if you had kept going that five more minutes, days, seconds, hours... You might have won.

The Old Trees are Weeping- Even if we don't cut them down, they will fall, and, as they grow older, they grow increasingly aware of this fact.

Ai, Kirai, Osere- Ai, love. Kirai, hate. Osere, fear.

Chain- Like a said before. Never give up. Something interesting about metal... if you fold a single piece of metal enough times, it will break, invariably. Every time you send vibrations through that metal, it will fold a little. Chains can be broken by human will, as long as human will is provided.

When Conflict is Preferable- I'm disappointed that this one is so off the radar. Probably because it's labeled, 'Haiku'. Anyway, what do you think could make someone prefer to have conflict, violence, anger in their lives? The answer? Read it.

It Will Rain- and it will rain again, and the skies will clear, and the sun will shine, and the birds will sing, and the clouds will drift lazily across the sky, and then... it will rain again.

Desolation- You would wonder too, right? If you were in such a broken place, and there was a locked gate and wall before you... "What's on the other side?" But... you would never find out, without the key.

I Must Stay- I think therefor I am. I am, therefor I think. If I do not think, I am not. If I am not, I do not think. So long as I think, I am, therefor I must simply continue to think, to continue to be, and keep my promises.

Wait- You shouldn't need to wait for the storm to be over.

Only Human- We place high standards on others... standards we don't usually place on ourselves.

Alone- Similar to, "If a tree falls in a forest, with nothing to hear it, does it make a sound?"

Thank You- Really, thanks a lot guys (and girls).

The Meaning of a Circle- A reviewer said, "it makes me want to get to know you better." So, read it, it might help.

I've started several novels. I'm only going to write about the ones I intend to finish.

O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O. O.

In Progress

Sorry, this is empty for the time being. Not for much longer, I should think.

A Dream of Beginning- Originally, this was designed as a prequel to A Dream of Tribulation, but I decided to post the parts in chronological order, so it's first on the list. Largely, this one's just setting the stage for the other two. Expect its first chapter soon. This is told from Yuuko's point of view. The Chigiri twins- Yuuko, a girl rendered blind five years ago in an accident, her brother Yuu, and their friend Asahara Yuki were ordinary students enjoying their last day of Junior High in Kamiwashi, and visiting the amusement park for the twins' birthday when their life made a hard right turn that threw them completely off track.

A Dream of Searching- This is set after A Dream of Concluding, but there are very few spoilers. And those that are there will be missed by the vast majority. Elith is a girl with a large bounty on her head, who is trying, in her own way, to save her world. Duriel is an honored knight of her kingdom that's just trying to keep her promises. The two meet in a tale of adventure, intrigue, sacrifice, plans that set in motion since the beginning of time, and, ultimately, tragedy. Sort of a collaborative project between my sister, Taeniaea, and I. The story's only on me account though.

Planned

A Dream of Tribulation- The aspiring young magician Ethelwyn had no idea what he was getting into when he performed the Right of Familiars. He was expecting to fail spectacularly and die due to magical backlash, or summon a familiar that would soon attack and devour him. He wasn't expecting an amnesic girl with bi-colored eyes, or the consequences that would come with her presence in the world.

A Dream of Concluding- Wait for Tribulation to be finished, ne?

If you were wondering, Animus can mean any of the following, in Latin "courage, character, vivacity, intellect, bravery, mind, memory, will, consciousness, spirit, often mind, soul."

Let me know if you think you know which one meaning is intended here, ne?

Anima means 'breath, life, or soul' in Latin. General consensus is that Anima is a plural form of Animus, as well. So it would mean 'many souls, breaths, or lives', as opposed to animus' 'one'.

EnKaKu- The Last Mortal Summer- On Hold. Since no one's reading it anyway, and I have another project to work on. 'Sides, I didn't like how it was going. The only reason I'm mentioning it at all is it's the precursor to Animus. I took the ideas here... and I made them better. That is Animus.

I came up with this story after re-visting an old world, created several years ago by my sister and I in the form of spoken stories. I decided to expand on it recently, and thus this story was born. The plot has little to nothing to do with that of the original, and I only took one of the concepts from it.

As for something many might wonder, what does EnKaKu mean, and why is each syllable capitalized? Well, Enkaku has two major meanings. "Distant, remote, isolated." And "history, development". Incidentally, each syllable also has several meanings. They are, as used here- En: "chance, fate, destiny, relation, bonds" Ka: "addition, increase" and Ku: "phrase, clause, sentence, passage, paragraph". Coincidentally, Ka is also the counter for a book's chapters. Oh, and also coincidentally, Kaku is "a beautiful passage of literature". Put them together, and you have a funny play on words that may or may not make sense later when the plot of the story has unfolded.

As seen here, I'll tell you what it's intended to mean, as a whole. Enkaku, tells us that something's distant, remote, and isolated. After reading the first chapter, you'll probably know what that is. Maybe you might also need the second. Meh. Enkaku also says that a development is taking place, history being made, if you read deep enough. Well, the name of the story might tell you that. En, Ka, and Ku, individuall tell us the chance, fate, and destiny all have something to do with the story. Not too surprising. Ka signifies an increase. And Ku gives us paragraphs, sentences, etc. which make up the following. When used liberally, you get "an increase in the burden of destiny and fate". Ku's just a coincedence, like Ka's double meaning and the meaning you get when putting Ka and Ku together by themselves.

Course, all of this information is derived from an english to japanese dictionary. I typed in distant, then narrowed the search from hundreds of words to enkaku, and look at all the ways it connects! Coincidence is a funny thing. But the fact I used a dictionary and have little actual knowledge of the language (not having officially studied it or anything), I may be wrong.
