Author has written 27 stories for Love, Historical, Fantasy, Supernatural, General, Family, Life, General, Friendship, School, Humor, Nature, and Song.

‘Seven volumes of poetry have I given to an ungrateful world during my life; they have all shared the fate of true genius—obscurity and contempt. Not that any fault could be found with their contents; whatever their deficiencies may have been, no reviewer has yet dared to criticize them, this is a great fact.’

- Lewis Carroll, 'Novelty and Romancement'

My friend 'Amandil' introduced me to FictionPress a while ago, and I am well on my way to becoming an addict. I'm an 18-year-old wanna-be writer, and although I have been dabbling in the art ever since I can remember, I have yet to discover what my 'style' is going to be: it is probable that it will develop into a mixture of Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, and Elizabeth Gaskell (my favourite writers, along with Oscar Wilde, Angela Carter, Margaret Atwood and Zadie Smith, but I would not dare attempt to imitate these last four...). I spend much of my time desperately trying to unite the cynical and romantic sides of my personality, so there will be excesses of both in my work.

I am fascinated by the 19th century, and my stories are usually historical fictions set in this time period: I am very busy learning about the various forms of etiquette in use throughout the era, but I frequently catch myself making mistakes, so if you find anachronisms, do please tell me! What I love about this site is that all the reviews I've read so far are all very constructive, so I'm hoping for positive and helpful reviews as well.

I write mainly prose, although I've recently begun experimenting with poetry again, after a five-year gap: under the influence of several poets I've been studying (and the work of my friend, 'yellowbaloonpop' on FP), I am now discovering the possibilities offered by free verse. So when you read my poems here, please don't be too hard on me: I'm still learning!

I am not sure that my account will be a very dynamic one for a while yet: I find that my time is taken up with work on my 'serious' novel, 'Mary Banks', and with a lot of less important things (i.e. university) which prevent my devoting all my time to the noble art of writing...

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy my writings, such as they are. They stand in dire need of concrit.
