Author has written 3 stories for Love, and War. "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves." - William Shakespeare Leah 18 Years Old United Kingdom, Newcastle I have amazing friends, and so I don't need anything more. I accept everyone for who they are. I’m bisexual, as I believe love can come in any size, form, or gender. I am not shallow and I don't tolerate being treated like someone who is. I'm single, I'm too sarcastic for words and it'll more than likely annoy you. I am perfectly fine with telling you what's on my mind. I don't know a lot of the important material, I mainly remember all of the supernatural crap which I hear. There are already enough people who know about said important crap, I am assured, that I shall be fine without it. Clearly full of dreams and star designing is quite enough. So - a music, history and supernatural girl. I have only published three (very crappy) poems on here as I was just wondering whether or not to post my better works up. They will be stories. I just want to write them some more and get them to a level of confidence with me and then I’ll post when (or if) I ever feel they're good enough to match some great writers on here. But I think I just need to take the plunge already because I never think they're good. Ever. Please read. Hey Everyone. So, I don't think anyone looks at my profile, but I thought I would write this anyway, not because I don't have anything better to do, but because it is something I'm extremely upset about and I would especially apprieciate, so if you were planning on reviewing a poem or something (highly doubtful, but still) then I would rather you did this for me. I don't have to be emailed, to say you've done it, because the pain I would feel when I got none would be hard. So, if you haven't heard, Proposition 8, (Eliminates the Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry), is a statewide ballot proposition in California on November 4, 2008, voters approved the measure and made same-sex marriage illegal in California. Now, according to California Secretary of State, out of 13,084,570 votes, 52.3 of which were Yes, gave the 'No' votes a total of 6,246,463 votes, but, sadly, as this was only 47.7 of the vote, the proposition passed and so Proposition 8 adds a new amendment to the California Constitution which says, "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California". Now. If you are in my same train of thought here, you will go and sign a petition to eliminate this absurd new proposition. When I discovered Prop. 8, I was extremely upset, heartbroken and angry at the fact that this right has been took away from people. I'm bisexual and yes, I've came in contact with my fair share of homophobes, but they won't make me believe that being in a relationship with a person of the same gender is wrong. Because to me, it isn't. Perhaps you don't see this. But whatever your opinions are, you shouldn't take away a human being's right of a happy life with someone they care about. Nomatter what your beliefs, you can be disgusted, it's your own choice, you made it and you can stick to it. I'm not asking you to change what you believe in, I'm asking you to just sign the petition, just to give people that right back. It will not hurt you to do so, because even if they can't marry, they aren't just going to do away with the love of their life, find a member of the opposite sex and say "ooh, it's legal with you, let's get married!" They're going to keep on loving them, so what does it matter to you, if two men are pronounced married in the next state, if two women move into the house next to yours? It doesn't have to be like this. Before it passed, same-sex marriage was a constitutionally-protected right in California; a majority of the justices of the California Supreme Court affirmed this understanding of the constitution in May 2008. So why did it change? Have your beliefs, they're yours, but please don't let someone suffer because of them. My beliefs are mine, but I don't force them onto other people, I don't hurt anyone. So why is Proposition 8? Just think about it. Please. When the World is Ending - Poem: This is a poem I wrote years ago that I hate with every fibre of my being, but I was just hanging back. I got some positive response and so I will be going on to post some of my better stuff on. A Tribute to a Fallen Soldier - Poem: I wrote this poem one day in my senior year at highschool on Memorial day. My class and I were looking through these old documents and papers and I found this story about an underage boy named Jeff who lied about his age to join the army and fight for his country, people, and queen. I was really moved by his story and incredibly sad that a young boy died in war, just as more are every day in this world. I feel emotions of regret, sadness and anger when I think of how so many men and women are dying and leaving this world through war. So, this story is about a boy named Jeff, a naive teenager that did not deserve to die. It is my small way of remembering him, and showing my sadness. I hope you like it. Falling Away - Poem: This is a poem about how when you are in a relationship and it comes to mean nothing, and you're pretty much just in it even though it's died out. It's sad, when the feelings that were once there turn to dust, and sometimes you try and cling onto it and pretend. This is a poem about it. Leah :) | |||||||
