| Schatzi and Craic |
Author has written 1 story for Young Adult. Meet Schatzi and Craic, the dynamic writing duo and the two components of the Equation of Awesomeness! Schatzi (pronounced "shah-t-zee") has been writing and reading fanfic and fictionpress since...oh jeez, 6 years ago! She's always loved reading and writing, and finally got into writing, with her main genres being fantasy, sci-fi, romance (I'm a hopeless romantic!), humor, and the wonderful combination that is angst/hurt/comfort! When not helping her fellow writer Craic torture helpless characters and forcing them into relationships against their will, she's hanging with friends, swimming, hiking, babbling until someone yells at her to shut up, working with kids, and singing. She's a Liberal Studies major at a California college who is destined to become an elementary school teacher (preferably Kindergarten)! You can find Schatzi at http://www.fanfiction.net/~rhiannonaurorafai and in a combined effort with another one of my friends (yes, she has friends other than Craic!): Craic (pronounced "crack") is an avid lover of angst and hurt/comfort. When not torturing hapless fictional characters, she loves reading, walking on the beach, making jokes, rambling incessantly, looking up random things on the internet, watching movies, listening to music, watching/playing soccer, and fencing. She is an English major at a California college (which, sadly, is not the same California college that her cohort Schatzi attends), but she has designs on going to Europe someday. You can find Craic at Also, Schatzi, STOP MAKING FUN OF HOW MY NAME IS PRONOUNCED. That is all! (Schatzi: NEVER!!) S&C S&C S&C Hello all, this is Craic! I'm half of the dyad "Schatzi and Craic," as you may have guessed, and I'm here to provide everyone with a little bit of background on how we came to be. Schatzi and I were born about two decades ago... OK, so we don't need to go quite that far back. Schatzi and I met in high school and have been great friends ever since. We are both excellent writers and have been writing fanfiction and original fiction since we were kids. We both participated in (and won) NaNoWriMo '08 and ScriptFrenzy '09, and we're looking forward to NaNo '09. Our ScriptFrenzy script was a joint effort, which is why we're here combining forces again to bring you a novelization based on our script. Schatzi and I are much more comfortable writing novels (though the script was tons of fun), and we fell in love with our ScriptFrenzy characters -- we definitely wanted to use them again. So here we are, bringing our creation to the world! S&C S&C S&C FAQs What do your pennames mean? -Schatzi: You can thank my roommate for giving me this name! She always calls me it! Love you Feather! What do you mean by the "Equation of Awesomeness?" -Schatzi: Well, if you worked the math, then we may have some problems, since you fail at math... -Craic: I didn't see you helping. But seriously, there's a reason I'm an English major. How do you break up your writing? -Schatzi: Anything that involves romance is my job, since Craic is a little romance retarded in stories. Anything that involves the beating up of hot male characters usually falls to Craic, since she does that real well!! -Craic: Why thank you! And I do like putting them back together at the end, of course. You write such lovely romance as well. I do my best to ease your romances along, but frankly it always ends badly. EDIT: Scroll down. Craic explains part of our writing process there. What are your real names? -Schatzi: Pretty much just Schatzi... I'm also a girl. -Craic: I feel that "Fedora Jim" is a little bit more gender-ambiguous than "Schatzi," my dear. -Schatzi: You never know, Fedora Jim on Craic! Haha, I'm funny. -Craic: I think you just made a horrible innuendo. Please stop or I'll hit you with a shoe! -Schatzi: ...That wouldn't be very nice... How old are you guys? -Schatzi: Damn straight! If you could marry any celebrity, who would it be? -Schatzi: Not only have I seen it, I've dupicated it and created my own many a time! My celebrity crushes are David Boreanaz (mmmmmm), Jensen Ackles, Alan Tudyk, and many, many more! -Craic: Oooh, Alan Tudyk. One of my many other loves. And Fran Kranz. Mmmm. -Schatzi: And the boys from Boondock Saints... nom nom nom... -Craic: I'M SO EXCITED FOR ALL SAINTS DAY!! I have a giant Boondock Saints poster in my room. Heehee. -Schatzi: And you say you're not a creeper! -Craic: If I'm a creeper, you're a creeper. We're in this together, Schatzi! S&C S&C S&C Hello, it's Craic again. Apparently I'm going to be handling the administrative side of this penname. Anyway, I just wanted to leave you with another little note, seeing as we actually posted our story in a timely fashion (which is a first for both of us!). If you're wondering how we're going about the writing process, so far it's working like this: Schatzi wrote the first two chapters, and I painstakingly edited them. Schatzi posted on our behalf, after taking my corrections into consideration and using them as she saw fit. Any remaining mistakes is due to advice ignored or creative differences. Chapter 3 is a collaborative effort -- we each wrote about half, and we both looked it over before posting. I'm in charge of chapter four, and it should be up relatively soon. Anyway, our story is going to be following our original script pretty heavily, at least at first. But seeing as how our script was never formally finished (yes, we hit the 100-page requirement, but we weren't acutally done), we're going to get to explore some new territory. Frankly, both of us are ridiculously excited. You can express a lot more in novel format than you can in script, since script format relies a lot on visual performance and not on what is written on the page. We're going to get to explore more of each character's mind, which I'm very happy about -- I'm a descriptive writer, and I like showing thoughts and emotions. We also have a lot more time and space to develop our subplots. Oh yes, we're going to have fun with this project. I can only hope that you, our beloved readers, are along for the ride. | |||||||
