| Dani DeSade |
Author has written 7 stories for Action, Romance, Horror, and Fantasy. My name is Dani. I'm nineteen years old and live in Bristol, Wisconsin. I've been writing for most of my life, but have only recently been able to write anything that I am truly proud of. Since moving to Bristol in September I have begun writing more and more, dedicating hours of each day to working on my novel project and various short stories, the better of which I will display here. Since September I have submitted three short stories and three segments of a novel that I hope to finish and have reviewed for publication. I am also working on two other novels on-and-off, which may be submitted here in the future if I really get anywhere with them. One is being written as a favor for a friend, and the other strictly for personal enjoyment. You'll find that in most, if not all, of my short stories there is a staggering lack of character development. This is because I don't find it incredibly important in a short story to elaborate on the history or even names of the characters, preferring to the keep things more action-driven than character-driven, unlike in my novels. I don't delve too far into the "why" of everything, because sometimes I think that when you've limited yourself to a short story rather than a full-length novel, there are more important things. When I have a multi-chapter piece that I am working on, I will stretch things out more, elaborate with greater detail and make the characters more 3D. I am inspired mostly by films and music. When I write I most frequently listen to music along the lines of Korn, Motley Crue, Angelspit, Oomph, Nonpoint and Cake, perhaps with a bit of Simon and Garfunkel and Billie Holiday thrown in. You won't find a whole lot of my movie taste embedded in my way of writing, though, as I prefer films with senseless violence. But on the rare occasion, I've generated entire novel concepts around a single statement or image that's present in a film. I admire anybody who writes and has the balls to put their work out there for anyone and everyone to see; it's not an easy thing to do, to open yourself up to criticism like that. Even if I don't particularly enjoy a person's writing, I can appreciate the time and effort that went into forming it. In-Progress: Completed Stories: 02. Night Magic (short story) 03.
