April 2nd, 2007: After five years, it gives me great sorrow and pleasure to announce that Queen of Glass is complete. Or, at least, this first draft is complete. I know I say it in my author's note (please read AFTER you finish the story), but I'd just like to thank everyone who's stuck with this story for so long. It means more to me than you can ever imagine. I hope that these last chapters live up to your expectations, and I wish you all the best of luck and happiness. Thank you--thank you forever and ever--for being a part of this story. I love you all.
March 2007: As of right now, there are two chapters and an epilogue yet to be posted for QoG. They have already been written, but I'm holding out (sorry everyone!) on posting them until April 2nd (so I can finish on the day I started posting on fictionpress). I've finished rewriting Part One, and have moved onto Part Two, which, believe it or not, is far more difficult to edit--mainly because of its enormity. Anyway, in response to the many questions, YES there is a sequel. It has been planned in length, but I haven't yet begun writing it. The sequel will chronicle the oncoming world war that has been mentioned throughout the story, as well as answer many of the questions that will remain at the end of Part Three. As of right now, the sequel is titled The Fortress of Beauty, but I'm not sure if and when I'll begin writing and/or positing it on fictionpress. Thanks everyone for your unwavering support and enthusiasm--without you all, this story would never have gotten so far.
January 2007: Hi everyone! I've had a really hectic semester at Hamilton, but lots of progress has been made on QoG! I began rewriting the entire story--and this draft is drastically different from the original. I will not be posting the edited version of QoG on fictionpress for various reasons, and so I apologize profusely for the roughness of Part 1. I did write Part 1 almost five years ago--when I was 16...Which is why I am rewriting it. Anyway, I have also completed writing QoG, which means that I will (eventually) post the final chapters on Fictionpress...when I get the courage to edit them. I have also planned out the sequel to QoG, and will begin writing that eventually. Anyway, I hope that everyone had a happy new year--take care!
Summer '06: As everyone can see, I've been updating quite frequently
in the past few weeks, and I plan to continue this pace (a chapter
every one to two weeks) until August, when I go back to college.
I
realized that there's not that much in this bio or in the yahoo group
about me, so here a few interesting facts about my life.
I
was born and raised in the heart of NYC, educated in private schools
from age three, and, come August, I will be a junior at Hamilton
College. I have been telling stories (or "tall tales" as my
mother used to call them) since I can remember, and I hope to make a
career out of the endless books in my head. In addition to
writing, I love to travel (England and Italy being my favorite places); I adore the ballet; and my boyfriend, Josh,
my real-life Prince Charming, is the love and light of my life.
I'm an extreme shopaholic, and am addicted to Chanel make-up and
Lacoste pique polos, and I love to golf. If you've seen photos of
me and remarked on the unusual similarities between myself and my
heroine, Celaena Sardothien, you're right: I did model her after me, and, yes,
it was and still is an act of pure vanity and ego. I have two
dogs: an unusually smart and charismatic miniature dachshund named
Izzy, and a rather fat and jolly Welsh corgi named Jack. This
summer, I am working as a data entry intern at The Fresh Air Fund, and
spending my weekends at either my country house in upstate NY or in
Philly with my boyfriend's family.
So, that's a
little about me. I'm fairly normal, if a bit materialistic, but
never bored with the world around me. I hope that everyone has a
fantastic summer, and that you enjoy the rest of Part 3!!!
3/15/06: Well, I realized that my profile was full of useless
information and was ridiculously long--so I erased most of it.
Obviously. Anyway, Part II of Queen of Glass is coming to a close (only
1 or 2 more chapters left), and then it's on to Part III for the last
leg of the book! It's strange to be so close to finishing this massive
story--I can't tell if I'm relieved or terrified. On a side note,
I DO know that there's a messed-up thing with Celaena's age. The
proper age is (well, now she's) 23 and it's been 15 years since her
parents died. I decided that I originally made her too old, but I
haven't had the time to go through all 62 chapters and fix the age
differences--so I'm sorry, in advance, for any confusion over the
changing number.
To
finally give an answer to the gazillions of times this question has
been asked, YES I plan on publishing Queen of Glass (and its sequel)
once it's done. Of course, I'll need to edit a lot of it first, and
then get an agent, and then apply to publishing houses, but...yeah, I expect lots of rejection, but I'm willing to put up with it. I want to be a professional writer once I'm done with college,
so hopefully Queen of Glass will allow for me to live out my dreams.
This story has taken up the past four years of my life, and is over
1,000 pages now, so hopefully something good will come of that.
There
are too many people to specifically thank, but I just want to again
thank all of the people who review this story--and who send me such
wonderful e-mails and funny IMs--you guys really keep me going, and I
don't know what I'd do without everyone's ongoing support. I feel that
Celaena's happy ending is very much caught up in my own, so hopefully
this book will one day be on a shelf somewhere, and I can properly
thank everyone who has been so crucial to building and maintaining this
long, long story. Thanks and take care!
11/9/02: I made a yahoo! discussion group for the book so that
all of you don't have to keep on e-mailing me and posting reviews
asking about when the next chapter will be out. You can join at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QueenofGlass/join
If you copy or steal any of my stories without my permission, I'll sue you so fast that it'll make your head spin.
Have a nice day!
