October 7th, 1849 is a day of importance.

In honor of Edgar Allan Poe, this was the day that this gifted writer had passed away. He was one of the greatest writers in the history. As a lot of Americans quote him "The American Shakespere". His life was full of sorrow and tragedy. His life was an eye opening number of tragedies that can be done in one's life. He is the God of horror stories. His writing has been an inspiration to many other writers, including me. Although, I'm just a young writer, Edgar Allan Poe still inspires me on my writing. And I'm sure many other writers also.

There are two historical figures that I have always wanted to meet. I would love to spend a day with Edgar Allan Poe and Ann Landers.

Edgar Allan Poe is one of the best poets/writers ever alive. And the way people treated him during his life was nothing but horrid. I believe that he deserved so much better. His writing came from deep down the heart and he was a master at symbolism. He used objects/animals/spirits to substitute real events in his life.

Ann Landers was a very outspoken and brave female journalist. Her quotes are amazing and came from her own experiences and feelings. I am an aspiring journalist, so I look up to her greatly as a journalist.

"Hate is like acid. It can damage the vessel in which it is stored as well as destroy the object on which it is poured." ~ Ann Landers

"Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It's the sure-footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life." ~ Ann Landers

"When you really love someone, you shouldn't have to work at it." ~ Vanessa Hudgens

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow." ~ Helen Keller

"The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it." ~ Ayn Rand
