THE NAME IS NOT A JOKE!!
I AM CONSERVATIVE AND I AM A FIRECRACKER, OR A SPITFIRE, OR A NUT BURGER IF YA PREFER!!
AND STOP STARING AT MY CSA VIKING HELMET!!
THESE THINGS ARE HARD TO GET!!
ESPECIALLY AUTHENTIC ONES!!

Those of you who haven’t bolted yet (huzzah to y’all, here’s a fudgicle) I am (drum roll) Conservative Firecracker, and I like to write. (This is the part where you all go “Hi, Conservative Firecracker”). Anybeast, here’s some things you may want to know ‘bout meh.

THE FAVES:
Movies: Genres, first. War movies, action, suspense, comedy, historical, BRITISH COMEDY, etc. Here are some of my all time faves - Lonesome Dove, Gladiator, Thirteenth Warrior, LotR, Three Amigos, O Brother Where Art Thou, El Dorado, True Grit (any John Wayne movie, really) The Patriot, Hunt for Red October, The Ten Commandments, Treasure Island (1990 version w/ Christian Bale and Charleton Heston), Batman: The Dark Knight, PotC (first one mostly, the only good thing about the other two was Davy Jones and the Hans Zimmer music) Master and Commander, Horatio Hornblower, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Lion in Winter, Jaws (I’ll end up adding more, I know it)
TV Shows: All the old ones! Hogan’s Heroes (BEST…SHOW…EVER) Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, The Munsters, etc. Also, I liketh the History Channel (Modern Marvels, YAY!) and Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior show! (I think I misnamed it…) I’m also a die hard fan of PBR (for you Yanks or deprived peoples out there, that’s Professional Bull Riding. I AM A REDNECK AND I AM DAGNABITTED PROUD UV IT!) I also like the Discovery Channel and the FOOD CHANNEL…BECAUSE I LOVE FOOD BUT I CAN’T EAT ANY OF IT…BECAUSE I’M NORDIC AND THEY GAVE ME STUPID FOOD ALLERGIES…thwacks the Vikings
Books: TOO MANY! The Redwall series, Lord of the Rings (not just the trilogy, ALL OF IT), Chronicles of Narnia, Till We Have Faces, historical novels (ACCURATE ONES!) history books (Richard and John: Kings at War is my favorite right now) anything on mythology, Nordic, Celtic and Greek, all the classics, meaning The Divine Comedy, The Aeneid, Canterbury Tales, Iliad, Odyssey, Treasure Island, Saga of the Volsungs, Laxdaela Saga, the good Gothic horror novels like Dracula, Lair of the White Worm, Dracula’s Guest, Castle of Otranto, etc, A History of Britain, Warriors series, all the Sherlock Holmes stories, AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME…MOBY-DICK. BEST…BOOK…EVER. OH! And the Aubrey-Maturin series!! JACK, STEPHEN, SOPHIE, BONDEN, PULLINGS, KILLICK AND MOWETT FOREVER!!
Music: I LOVE Celtic and folk music best of all. Irish, Scottish, Southern folk music, me loves. The Chieftains comes first, then Natalie MacMaster, Na’Bodach, Flogging Molly, Clancy Brothers, The Kingston Trio, Hair of the Dog, Great Big Sea, Hesperus. I also like Nightwish, Nox Arcana (the non-demonic ones, at least) and some classic rock. ZZ TOP! HUZZAH! My favorite composers include: Boccherini, Locatelli, Mozart, Vivaldi, Howard Shore, David Arkenstone, Klaus Badelt, and my two absolute favorites: PROKOFIEV (AL Webber stole his music!! THAT AIN’T PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, IT’S ALEXANDER NEVSKY!!) AND HANS ZIMMER!!

Okay, here are my non-fandom based obsessions: American whaling (hence my obsession with Moby-Dick), British Navy back in the good ol’ days, Texas history, Civil War (I am Southern, and I have my views), Protestant Reformation, Angevin Empire, my heritage (I’m a Nordic/Scottish/German/Saxon/Southern/Texan girl! Hurrah!) swords and bows and…well, any weapon, including a double bladed halberd (they exist!), hunting (DEER SEASON IS MY LIFE) bull riding, tracking and just hanging out in the woods, archery, the macabre, the Wreck of the Medusa, the legend of the Flying Dutchman, art, music composition, classical guitar, calligraphy, and my all-consuming obsession - 1066 and it’s surrounding time period. swoons

So, my plans involve me becoming an author one day, writing accurate historical novels, fantasy stories, nonfiction biographies on Harald Hardrada, etc etc etc. My goals as a writer? 1) To actually FINISH a book and get one published 2) Write something that is successful and worthy of it (not like Twiblight. No, that isn’t a misspelling. I have a burning hatred for that abomination) 3) For one of my books to be turned into a movie directed by Ridley Scott or John McTiernan with a score composed by Hans Zimmer. Just let me dream, people!!

My largest writing projects (some may not appear here) include:

The Sharrun Legacy: A trilogy taking place in a fantasy world I have created on. I’ve sort of paused on the trilogy in order to write the history of the land, sort of a Silmarillion-esque work. The trilogy focuses on a certain event while this other bit I’m working on is an overview of the people groups of the world.

Ghost Poet: An epic poem. Yes, AN EPIC…POEM…LIKE…AS…IN…HOMER. Sixty pages so far…and only on section three out of four jillion. I AM A TREE KILLER.

1066: A play, scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry.

Conquerors: Another 1066 deal. A compilation of the events from the differing viewpoints of a range of characters, including Harold, William, Tostig, Hardrada, Edith, common soldiers and their families, etc.

Fangs Bared (working title): A story about vampires and werewolves (REAL vampires and werewolves!) during the Reconstruction in the South.

With Eyes to See: A Christian themed novel about Oedipus in his exile.

To Cover a Brother: A Germanic/Celtic retelling of the Trojan war myth.

Nordic America: a nonfiction work on the history of the Vikings in North America, something we never seem to remember.
