My name is Corbett and I'm 22 and a sailor onboard USS Abraham Lincoln. I've been writing my whole life and it's the single most important thing to me. I've never really had any type of supportive community for writing, and am now desperately (and pathetically) lashing out in search of one. I don't believe in the notion of a "spontaneous burst of passion" as it applies to writing of any kind, but rather think that the best works "are produced by great labor and constant, unremitting application of the file".

As such, nothing I write here (or anywhere) is ever sudden or caught up in sentimentality and I would have you read everything with the mindset that nothing is really random and even the minutest of things involved may serve to reinforce or accentuate whatever theme or ideal I am attempting to portay. I'm not such a large fan of contemporary writing styles because I believe that they, like the readers of such styles, have become diluted in technique and education and don't affect any solid usefulness or substance; I instead believe in the older system of writing that sees ambiguity and equivocalness as techniques for opening up an analysis of style and meanings and not as blunders belonging to a deficit in skill by the writer (as seems to be the case today). Ugh. I would that I were born 120 years ago :(
