Hi! My name is Garrett, and I'm a 21 year old college dropout living in Visalia, California. I recently began writing again after nearly 2 years of stagnation. Perhaps inevitably, I wait tables to pay the bills and dream of someday getting published. I currently write short stories and am trying to make the jump to novels, but it's a fairly daunting task, I must admit. I'm an avid reader as well, and a member of the legions of SF&F fandom. I also enjoy thrillers, historical fiction, detective novels and mysteries, journalism collections, and various other types of writing. My favorite authors are Jim Butcher, Hunter S. Thompson, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Heinlein, Charlie Huston, Eric Flint, and many others. I listen to a lot of music (used to work in a CD/DVD store) and frequent a lot of concerts. My favorite bands are Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Anti-Flag, Dead Kennedys, Rise Against, Rancid, The Living End, Against All Authority, Authority Zero, Streetlight Manifesto, illScarlett, Dropkick Murphy's, The Bouncing Souls, The Dirty Heads, and many other punk, ska, and reggae groups. Recently I've been getting back into grunge (long live the 90's baby) and different forms of alternative rock such as Alice In Chains, Tool, Incubus, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Dispatch and State Radio, among others. And, like in all things, you can't appreciate what something is without appreciating where it came from, and I have a healthy respect for the classic rock giants out there. I also listen to a number of hip hop/dub step groups like Jedi Mind Tricks, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, The Glitch Mob, and many others. I suppose one could argue that the eclectic quality of my music and literature tastes reflect my style of life in general. And they would probably be right. I'm extremely energetic and never really sit still for very long. I enjoy life to the fullest, and basically just try not to fuck it up too bad, although typically I fail pretty miserably in that regard. Ah well, life lessons.
