Author has written 8 stories for Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. Fantasy just grabs my mind. So does si/fi since forever. Still have Dune in first edition hardback. Currently have 5 Books at first draft and feel a bit stuck with how to polish them up to an acceptable standard...bit shonky on continuity and keeping to a constant "voice". Other than that I like red wine, driving performance cars, flying (when I can afford it). Renovating our house and oddly mowing the lawn. The daily grind is keeping the boys fed and happy and fixing computers and building new systems. As for writing, there is much that can be said about our world and the social structures within it, not all of it good. SF and Fantasy provide platforms from which to showcase alternative views and to highlight inequities often overlooked. The relationships between men and women, their respective rolls in different cultures, changing social values and situational stresses all interest me. So does the increasing speed to scientific development and the technological breakthroughs that follow. War, economics, energy and global warming, medical advances and the steady dissempowerment of all people all deserve a new look. Apart from that I get so much from the process of writing. Its almost as if the culmination of a completed book is a means of giving something back for all the fun I have gained. Beta Readers/ comments welcome | |||||||
