Hello everyone. I'm Shelby. An aspiring author, who really needs an agent someday soon, but isn't trying to get your first agent a catch-22?

I am a poet, and a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Emily Dickinson. I love the Jazz Age short stories - they are always so enticing and interesting, and nobody does flappers and the deteriorating American Dream better than Fitzgerald.

Dickinson's slant rhyme is beautiful to me. Her style has definitely inspired me to write without using rhyme. And I have found that rhyme is pretty, but it isn't at all necessary to make a beautiful poem.

Currently I am working on a novel that I hope to publish this year. I don't have much time to write (this is always been a problem) but it is semiautobiographical, so I have good material to use at least.

My poems on Fiction Press are about a variety of things. I love to write poems based on real life experiences, or about realistic struggles. But my imagination is always active, so I will try to post a poem every week.

My LiveJournal is my favorite: Rot-chan/FrenchBeats LJ

I am an active member on the LJ community 'Poets Society'. But I am starting to post my poems on my own journal. I am most active there. I hope you all enjoy. :)
