Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality. . .
It's hard to write a profile description. I mean what can I honestly say in this brief little blog that cannot be determined by a reader through the stories I have posted? I love to write, that much should be obvious by the fact that I have thirteen stories up, and that three of them are incredibly long, one of which on its way to being longer than anything I've ever written, but other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I love reviews and feedback (especially constructive criticism) because I really don't know if my writing is any good. I think it is, but then I could be a little more than slightly biased on that since I genuinely love my stories and characters, but that's beside the point.
Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia. ~E.L. Doctorow

SUMMARIES:
STORIES OF SIGNIFICANT LENGTH:
THE POWER OF MAGICK: FINISHED The Power of Magick is a story about a boy named Jarod who discovers that he posses magick. However, his isn't a tale of power bringing about amazing success; in fact, it's almost the complete opposite. The path he travels through life is riddled with strife, and early on, Jarod is forced to chose sides in a war he doesn't understand. That choice sets wheels in motion that he would have preferred remained inert, but as the years progress he comes to accept his position in life and decides to do what he can to change the state of Kura. - This is the story that started it all for me. I began writing it almost 9 years ago now and since then it's been through several massive overhauls and edits, getting progressively longer in the process.
CHAMPION: FINISHED NaNoWriMo 2006. Champion is a story about a young woman who needs to find someone to protect her from the forces hunting her. She doesn't know how to find such a person and as a result goes about it in all the wrong ways, causing more problems for herself than she ever would have imagined. Not the best thing I've written, Faye is probably the better NaNoWriMo, but Champion was done during a very busy month so you can't really expect much more than that.
FIGHTING ON: FINISHED Ayden was a young mage hell bent on defeating the corrupt powers that be, but his view of the world dramatically changed when he was captured and thrown into a brutal prison camp. It was there that he lost not only his magic but himself. But just when it seems like all his dreams of changing things are forever lost, the situation changes, giving him another shot at success. Now it's up to him to seize the offered opportunity and overcome all that's happened to him before.
FAYE: FINISHED NaNoWriMo 2005. A young woman named Faye is stuck in a world that doesn't really agree with her on much of anything. Such opposition to the powers that be makes it hard for a unique woman to survive, but she's resourceful enough to find a way. . .
POWER STRUGGLE: FINISHED Cameryn and Tristan are different than most people, and it is those differences that make them so important to their enemies who are hell bent on their capture. With a world divided in an unfair and unjustified civil war, they must learn to rely on more then just their own strength to survive, but it's not just survival that they are interested in. . . they both dearly want to change the world. However, there is one problem that has proved to be quite troublesome for Cameryn, Tristan, and their beloved Resistance. Who can you really trust when most of the world is set against you?
DISCOVERY: FINISHED (First serious fictionpress story) Kesia spent most of her life just trying to stay out of the way; if she was noticed, people tended to pick on her, so she avoided them as much as she could. For a long time, it seemed like fate had destined her to be alone, but one discovery changed her life forever. Now, she has to fight against an evil she doesn’t fully understand, and come to grips with a power that’s more than anything she’d ever dreamed of. But the question still remains: Will Kesia be able to overcome her past and defeat this evil, or will her past rear its ugly head and cripple her forever? The fate of the future now rests on the shoulders of one unlikely hero.
SHORTS:
SERENITY: FINISHED A woman struggles to find serenity and happiness by confronting her father for the first time.
WISDOM REDUX: FINISHED A short story about what it means to survive. I had posted another version of this story (WISDOM) on the site, but after careful thought and the incentive of a creative writing class, I have edited and removed the old story. Hopefully this one is a bit weirder and more reader friendly.
STATE OF THE UNION: FINISHED It's the year 2018 and the President is about to surprise the nation with some kind of announcement in his State of the Union address. Unfortunately, things don't go like anyone would have ever imagined.
STUDYING: FINISHED Chloe was supposed to be studying, but that's always easier said than done.
JUST ANOTHER DAY: FINISHED Jaylin's day was a perfect example of her life. She wanted to be happy, but others sought to do everything they could to make her miserable.
LIFE ALONE: FINISHED A short about someone who really knows what loneliness is all about even if she doesn't want to be alone.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF RAIN: FINISHED A short about a girl facing that which most of us could never imagine even though thousands are faced with such horror on a daily basis.

Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank piece of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead. - Gene Fowler
The book can produce an addiction as fierce as heroin or nicotine, forcing us to spend much of our lives, like junkies, in book shops and libraries, those literary counterparts to the opium den.
I learned that you should feel when writing not like Lord Byron on a mountaintop but like a child stringing beads in kindergarten--happy, absorbed and quietly putting one bead on after another.
But it takes an awful long time to not write a book! -Douglas Adams
You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we're doing it. –Neil Gaiman
If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~Toni Morrison
Do not put statements in the negative form.
And don't start sentences with a conjunction.
If you reread your work, you will find on rereading that a
great deal of repetition can be avoided by rereading and editing.
Never use a long word when a diminutive one will do.
Unqualified superlatives are the worst of all.
De-accession euphemisms.
If any word is improper at the end of a sentence, a linking verb is.
Avoid trendy locutions that sound flaky.
Last, but not least, avoid cliches like the plague.
~William Safire, "Great Rules of Writing"
Courage is not limited to the battlefield or the Indianapolis 500 or bravely catching a thief in your house. The real tests of courage are much quieter. They are the inner tests, like remaining faithful when nobody's looking, like enduring pain when the room is empty, like standing alone when you're misunderstood.
The truth of the matter is that you ALWAYS know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.
It is human nature to think wisely and act in an absurd fashion. - Anatole France
We are the hero of our own story.
