“Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

G.K. Chesterton.

Greetings to all. My name is Ranguvar, but I prefer Rang. I do have a real name, but I only reveal it to people that I know very well. My favorite genres to write in are fantasy and poetry, but I'm willing to try my hand at a little bit of everything. I have an account on fanfiction.net under the same user name.(I write mostly Alice in Wonderland stories) That's it for right now. If I think of something else to say, I'll let you know.

The image cover on my stories The Visitor and A Visit From The Birthday Monster comes from this page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Emmys-Art-World/115805318464141 I had full permission from the original artist.

My novel Wolf's Bane is now available on CreateSpace: Wolf's Bane

A Bit About My Writing:

1. I try to have basic plots worked out before I start writing, but sometimes my story takes on a life of its own and goes off on tangents. But I will try to tie everything together in the end. Just a fair warning.

2. If I have two love interests, you can count on them being either married or engaged at the end of a story.

3. My forte is Fantasy, but I will try my hand at any genre I can. I confess to not being the best dramatic writer.

4. I will respond as best as I can to all Reviews I receive. But please, make sure your Review is a substantial one. I will not respond to 'Update Soon!'

5. I have no problem with criticism. I am new at writing original fiction, so naturally I will be a bit unpolished and my stories might not be the best. But I also do not write simply for Reviews-good, bad, or indifferent. I write for the love of writing. I welcome any advice veteran FP writers can give me. (and yes, I know the difference between an honest but tough criticism and a flame.)

Character Descriptions (Into the Woods)

Protagonists

Name: Maeve O’Carroll

Age: 30

Maeve is five feet ten inches tall, with a curvy body and good sized breasts. She has dark brown hair that ends in a slight curl at her shoulders, and green eyes with flecks of blue. She is in excellent shape, and there is not an ounce of fat on her. She has scars all over her body from fights she has been in over the years. She is a Hunter, a trait that she inherited from her mother, who inherited it from hers, and so on back through the generations. There is a family legend that says that the O’Carroll women are descended from Morgan Le Fey, but no one has been able to verify the truth. She travels all over the world hunting down any supernatural elements that are deemed a threat to mortals. When she was five, she saw her first ghost, and spent six months on medications and seeing shrinks. Her parents died in a car crash when she was twelve, and she became a Ward of the State when her grandmother-her last living relative-died of old age when Maeve was thirteen.

Strengths: She is highly skilled with a crossbow and sword, something she learned through years and years of practice. She also has a photographic memory, and is able to find her way around a strange location with ease. She is highly intelligent, and can read, write, and speak four languages-English, Russian, German, and Latin. She also speaks enough French to get by. She has the ability to sense the emotions and thoughts of people. She can also see ghosts.

Weaknesses: She has a very fiery temper, and is also a bit of an opportunist (though she prefers ‘entrepreneur’), and will do most anything to make a buck-as long as it doesn’t go against her principles. But she has no problem with being a thief or ‘bending’ laws. She also tends to be very blunt at times. Whenever she uses her gift, it takes a toll on her, and she has to eat right after. She also can get crippling migraines and becomes nauseous if she is inundated with too many emotions and thoughts at once.

Name: Dr. Robert Carmon

Age: 38.

Dr. Carmon is six foot two, with black hair that is already starting to go grey and grey-green eyes. He is a reluctant resident of Darkhallow, and dreams constantly of escape. He had once been a doctor at a fine hospital, but after his wife and child are killed in a fire, he could no longer perform his duties. He has lived in Darkhallow for two years by the time Maeve arrives. He is in decent shape, but his left arm is practically useless-he burnt it very badly trying to run into his burning house to save his family. At first, he is a bit confused and baffled by Maeve, but he gradually warms up to her.

Strengths: He is able to fight the ennui that the Town seems to inflict on people, and has nearly escaped five times-which is four times more than most. He is still highly skilled at doctoring, and has patched up many of the residents after their encounter with things in the forest. He is very inquisitive, and helps Maeve in her investigation of Darkhallow.

Weaknesses: He has a crippling phobia of fire, and will go into a panic attack and freeze. (Fire in a fireplace doesn’t affect him) He also has trouble sleeping due to nightmares. He has extremely limited use of his left arm-he can bend it a little bit, and can flex his fingers slightly, but he cannot pick up or hold anything.

Antagonists:

Name: Jacob Richards

Age: 57(physically. Chronologically though-he is *much* older.)

Jacob is the Mayor of Darkhallow, and he is none too happy about Maeve's presence. He is six foot three, and very fat. He has lank blond hair and blue eyes, and he can go from cheerful to angry in one snap of the finger. He tries to impede Maeve’s investigation, to no avail. He has his own dark secret...

Strengths: He does have a way with most of the townsfolk due to being able to project an aura of calm and rationality. However, it doesn’t always work. He is also extremely business savvy.

Weaknesses: He cannot turn down a deal, which is what got the town in trouble in the first place. He is also much, much older than he appears.

Name: Devon Richards

Age: 32(Physically. Chronologically-he's younger, and Maeve discovers a dark secret about him.)

Devon is Jacob’s son, and the constable of Darkhallow. He is infatuated with Maeve, and she is repulsed by him. He is rather dumb, and will not hesitate to use violence on people. Unfortunately, he cannot be dismissed from his job. He is as tall as his father, and in slightly better shape, but still rather corpulent. He has brown hair and eyes, and a piggy sort of face. He views himself as God’s gift to women, a view that Maeve is rather quick to squash.

Strengths: None, really-unless you count being able to swing a nightstick with agility a strength.

Weaknesses-He is a buffoon and prone to violence. He also doesn’t know when to leave well enough alone at times.

The Dark One

The Dark One is the name of the Entity that controls the town. Who or what it is is unknown, but all signs point to it being very powerful, very old...and very hungry.

Character Descriptions for A Many Splendored Thing

NOTE: This is my first attempt at NaNoWriMo, so it may be a bit meandering at times. Apologies for that.

Name: Rachel Owens

Age: 24

Physical Appearance/Background: Rachel is five feet ten inches tall, with dark red hair and blue/green eyes. She has large breasts, and her body is curvy. She is in good shape, and her legs are long and slightly muscled. She has smatterings of freckles across her face and arms, and her skin is lightly tanned. Her father is a Family Court Judge and her mother is a stenographer. Rachel is currently in her final year at Boston College. She is an only child.

Strengths: She is quite intelligent, and has a natural flair for the stage. She loves to sing and cook, and has quite the nice voice. She has a talent for memorizing poems and songs, and is a witty conversationalist. She also has a wicked sense of humor.

Weaknesses: She comes from a household of abusive alcoholics, and she tends to shy away from physical contact unless she implicitly trusts a person. The fact that Lucas is so gentle with her is a big reason why she falls for him.

Name: Lucas Black

Age: 42

Physical Appearance/Background: He is six feet two inches tall, with dark blond hair and grey/blue eyes. He is broad shouldered, and has well developed muscles from years of swimming and running. He has a scar on his back right shoulder from a fight in college, and freckles along his arms and legs. He is a freelance reporter/amateur author. He is also a widower, having lost his wife in a car accident twelve years ago. He has money, but is not extravagantly rich.

Strengths: He has a natural charm that he sometimes uses to his advantage, but he also uses it to put Rachel at ease. He can sing, but he much prefers warbling in an off key tenor. Lucas is also a talented writer and witty conversationalist, and he is delighted to discover that Rachel can more than hold her own.

Weaknesses: He can sometimes be too stubborn for his own good, and he is afraid to really open up to anyone. He has a tendency to attract gold-diggers, which is one of the reasons why Rachel fascinates him so-she's not at all interested in his money.

Name: Adelina Cheryl Black

Age: 22

Physical Appearance/Background: Dark blond hair, large breasts, and a cheerleader physique. She looks like the stereotypical 'dumb blond' but is in fact very intelligent. She is Lucas' daughter, and Rachel's college roommate. It is because of her scheming that the two are introduced.

Strengths: Well read, and despite her looks is more of a bookworm than you would think.

Weaknesses: She is a schemer, and sometimes her schemes can backfire-but the results aren't *too* disastrous.
