The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow it if I can. Pursuing it with weary feet, until it joins some larger way, where many paths and errands meet. And wither then? I cannot say.J.R.R. Tolkien

Just wait, though wide he may roam, always, a hero comes home. He goes where no one has gone but, always, a hero comes home. He knows of places unknown, but always a hero comes home.Beowulf

Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm, figures dancing gracefully across my memory. Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember, things my heart used to know, things it yearns to remember. And a song someone sings, once upon a December.Anastasia

About me

Hello, hello, hello all! I suppose this is where I tell all of you about my life. Where to start?

For starters, I am a college student at the amazing University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where I major in Political Sciences and Economics with a minor in History. I am an avid writer with many plans for future works. I love designing covers when I'm taking breaks from my writing. I am the biggest book nerd I know. With books, I am proud to confess that I have so developed an very vivid imagination. My favorite authors are Robert Jordan, Charles Dickens, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.R. Ward, Kiera Saito, George R. R. Martin, Brent Weeks, J.K. Rowling, Darren Shan, Sarah Dessen, Liba Bray and so many, many, many more.

My favorite shows (of which I have many) are Star Trek, Doctor Who (avid Whovian and proud), Once Upon a Time, Legend of the Seeker, Merlin, Sherlock, Robin Hood, Downton Abbey (fantastic series!), Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Arrow, Supernatural and, of course, many, many, many more. I am hopelessly in love with the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Richard Armitage (RIDICULOUSLY in love with that man!!!), Benedict Cumberbatch, David Boreanaz, Christopher Eccleson (Don't judge me), David Tennant, Matt Smith (all three of which are Doctors 9-11), Colin Morgan and Naveen Andrews. I am part of many fandoms, if you can't tell.

Music wise, don't even get me started. Same with movies (AVENGERS!!!). I could honestly go on all day. Same with books (WHEEL OF TIME!!).

I review everything I read. Its only courteous, its one of the main reasons we post stories on this site! Expect reviews from me! :)

Anything else, just ask and I'd be more than glad to answer. Happy reading and writing and may the force be with you! ;)

Pirate Empire Series

What really inspired me to write the series (book one being The Bloody Rose Red), besides my obsession with maritime history and pirates, was watching shows like Deadwood, Rome, The Tudors, The Borgias and other T.V. shows regarding history and I wondered how there was nothing like that covering piracy. I decided to write this story because, besides the book The Noble Pirates, there really isn't any story or movie out there about pirates that actually works to follow the actual history of pirates. They don't really paint the picture of what piracy really was, where it came from, what it was like and so on so forth. It is so romanticized, people sometimes forget that piracy was an actual thing. I really wanted to write a story that brings the history and lifestyle of pirate to light in the eyes of someone from our own time; breathe life into the figures of history that aren't mentioned and so on.

There are many pirates that we know of right off the bat-Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, Charles Vane, Calico Jack-but I want to also cover the ones left in the dark because they are really important in their own way. Not only that, but extend the spotlight to other historical figures as well like Woodes Rogers, pirate hunters like Jonathan Barnet and so on so forth. In the end, I wanted to shine the spotlight on the reality of that era and I hope I did you guys proud on that!

This will be a series of four books covering the story on the adventures of the main character, Rose Martin, as she travels we way through the Golden Age for pirates. On top of that, the stories (I hope) will bring to life the lives of the pirates and historical figures we don't hear much of. I hope to accomplish us seeing these men and women as people first and foremost and not mere figures from history books. I can only hope that my readers can relate to these characters as I am starting to via my research of them! That's my main goal and I hope to achieve it!!

Historical facts, shifts that I did, helpful links and all things pirate!

I tried to stay as close to historically correct as possible, but there are some changes I made date wise. Where it says that Blackbeard was born round 1680, I pushed that back to 1660 because, If I stuck to the regular birthday at the time of the story, which is 1718, it would make him 38 years old and that would make him only three years older than his son and Navarrone is 35 in the story.

I pushed back the date of when Blackbeard established his ship, Queen Anne's Revenge, in order to stick to the plot line. He really captured it around 1717, but I pushed it back to the year the main character was born, which is around 1685.

The year that I am writing in is the era when the British had not yet accepted the Gregorian Calendar. While other countries might have, the mother country and her territories were functioning off of their own calender system. While we may think that it was January 1718-1718 being the year setting of the story-according to the characters, it would have been still 1717 so they would have seen it as January 1717. The new year, according to this, didn't start until the first of March. The setting of the beginning of the story is May, 1718, so, according to them, we are two months into the "New Year".
This would go on until the British Calendar Act of 1751! Click on it to read up more about it!

Also, there was no official distinction between North and South Carolina until 1729. References to South Carolina and North Carolina is merely a regional reference.

Other than a few changes in dates, the history behind the more notorious pirates and the history of the era is as accurate as my research allows. The historical accounts are not my own, this is my disclaimer.

For some random reason, I find myself listening to this song whenever I'm writing for my story. Its called The Theme from The Mermaid Chair and this version is by Secret Garden. I thought you guys should hear it so click hither and give it a listen! :)

The Bloody Rose Red Dream Cast!

I'll add to the list as the story goes on!! Sometimes I'll add to the list before I write the chapter. Like a "preview" sorta thing.:) I do change the actors sometimes if I find one that fits the bill better than the one I have up! Let me know if you think otherwise! :)

If a character has a - next to their name that means that they are an actual figure from history!
