Author has written 10 stories for Life, General, Essay, Young Adult, and Biography. Hello, everyone here at Fictionpress. I am SoftSilverShadows, otherwise known as Emily. I just got an account about half a year ago, and I've never really explored this site before (though I am on Fictionpress's sister site, Fanfiction.net, practically 24/7), but I have a general idea of how things work. I've always been told by my teachers that I am a fantastic writer, but I want some honest opinions from people who won't have any biase because I am a "shy, quiet, and sweet little girl" (which, in reality, I'm not). I appreciate constructive criticism, but if all you want to do is bash me and my writing, then go ahead because I won't hesitate to retaliate. Anyway, I hope you will check out some of my stories and also take the time afterwards to leave a review. It can be a simple "Pretty good." or "Could use some work."; any feedback is appreciated. Also, I know that some authors don't care much for little grammatical errors such as a punctuation issue, but I am not one of them. I want my writing to be as good as it can get, so I will need to know if there are any errors, so don't be afraid to let me know! Anyway, I hope that you'll enjoy my works. For now, here's some general information about me: Name: Emily Age: 14 years Birthday: March 2 (same as Dr. Seuss!) Nationality: I am an ABC--American born Chinese State: The Garden State Favorite Color: Blue of all kind, though navy is my absolute favorite Favorite Food/Snack: Warm chocolate chip cookies and cold milk. Yum. Favorite Drink: Starbucks' Iced Chai Tea Latte. I still drink that in the winter. Sibling(s): My 30-year-old (OMFG) brother who I call Broccoli. Don't ask me where that came from. I really don't know. Languages I Speak: English (no duh), Chinese, and I am currently in my second year of learning Italian. Singers/Bands/Musicians I Listen To: I've listened to so many bands throughout the years, transitioning from bands like Blink 182 and Alkaline Trio to Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle; Phiilip Wesley and David Garett to Broken Iris and Framing Hanley. My current obsession is the German band Tokio Hotel (but I miss Bill Kaulitz's lion mane!). Instrument(s): I used to play piano for a few years, but ever since fourth grade, I've been playing the violin. And I guess you can count the recorder, which I played in third grade. :P Sport(s): I used to dance (I've done tap, ballet, jazz, Latin, and competition jazz) and play tennis, but now the only athletic things I do is walk home from school every day for 20 minutes and whatever laborous activity that is done in Phy. Ed. class. Favorite TV Shows: White Collar, Castle, Eureka, How It's Made, Head Games, and Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman. I don't watch TV that much but I've found myself becoming interested in the Science Channel. Favorite Movies: Inception, Source Code, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Warhorse, Schindler's List, practically all of Hayao Miyazaki's anime films, all of the Marvel Comics movies, The Prestige, Hachi (SOB!!), Keith (SOB!), 10 Things I Hate About You, 27 Dresses, School of Life, and The Dark Knight Rises. Favorite Places to Shop: Macy's, Wet Seal, Bloomingdales, Century 21, DSW, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Blick. Pet Peeves: Hypocrites, Asian stereotypes, OCs, Quick-Dry nailpolish that takes forever to dry, when people abbreviate everything while texting (honestly, do you really have to spell 'what' as 'wat'? What difference does that one little letter make?), friends constantly asking for homework help, arrogant people, bugs, hot weather, allergies, obnoxious, attention-seeking brats, ads on Pandora, blah, blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah... Interesting/Random Facts: I loathe tomatoes, but I eat pasta and ketchup. My brother is 15 and a half years older than me. I love psychological thrillers even though they scare the shit out of me. I have gills. I eat pillowcases. My pinky toe is purple. I think you're retarded if you believed the last three things I just listed. Current Pairing Obsession: Tom Riddle Jr./Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) Anyway, just a heads up: I have another account on Fanfiction.net, where I have zero stories of my own but 80 favorited stories. Hopefully I'll get some stories up, but don't keep your hopes up. I'm more of a fanfiction reader than writer, similar to how I prefer writing rather than reading on this site. Honestly, I think you should just maybe add me to your Author Alert list so if I do ever end up posting something, you'll know. Of course, you don't have to, but it's just a suggestion. Also, if anyone has any new animes, mangas, books, or bands that they'd like to recommend to me based on the interests that I've provided, feel free to let me know. Or if there's an amazing and long fanfic that you absolutely loved, then I'd love to know that, too. Lastly, if anyone just wants to chat, I'm always open to listen to problems. Although I am still just a young teen, I am considered by many to be very mature for my age, and I'm sure that I can be a good listener and help you with whatever might be troubling you. Anyway, have a nice day, lovely readers. :D June 24, 2012 Update: Seeing as to how summer vacation is finally here, no school means more time for writing. Yay! However, I will be traveling around this year, going to D.C. with my mom for a week and then leaving soon after our return to China until the 30th of August. Although I've gone alone in the past before, I was always accompanied and helped by flight attendents who made sure I didn't get kidnapped or something of the like. This year I'm a real lone wolf and I'm freaking scared out of my mind yet so excited I want to just go now. Anyway, I am in the middle of another oneshot called Disconnected so keep your eyes out for that, and I have had an excited plot bunny hopping about in my head for quite a while now just waiting to leap out onto paper (or rather the computer screen) so hopefully I can get the story planned, started, and possibly finished and posted some time this summer, althoug the latter two is unlikely. I am the type of writer who loses inspiration quickly, often times in the middle of stories, and so I always make sure to finish things before I post them because I hate it when authors leave on month long Hiatuses. I will try to finish my new story and get started on weekly postings (I love torturing my readers, especially the ones who read and don't review) before September, but once again I give no guarantees. Lastly, I would really appreciate it if you guys would take five seconds of your lives to answer my poll about preferred story lengths. It will help give me a word count goal to strive for. Anyway, ciao for now. Any questions can be sent through PM or email (08ququ@gmail.com). July 23, 2012 Update: Hey peoples! Guess where I am? China!!! Well, I've actually been here for a little over a week now, but Internet was hard to come by for my little laptop, so I'm just giving a quick heads-up now. Shanghai was ridiculously hot and humid, much worse than New Jersey. But I no longer need to worry about stuffy weather because I am now chilling in Kunming, the city with Spring weather all year round, but the mosquitoes are flocking me like sheep. I have nearly twenty mosquito bites all over my arms and legs and they itch like hell! Plus, the itching medicine they have here in China works like magic, but the smell is so strong! Well, at least it chases away all the mosquitoes. Anyway, I've finally finished Disconnected and got it posted, so now my main focus is on starting my new story, Flaws. Though, if I'm to be completely honest, you guys may have to wait for a couple of months before catching so much as a glimpse of it. Anyway, ciao for now. I'm going to be touring around the area for the next few weeks. October 17, 2012 Update: Oh, gosh, I am so sorry my dear readers (which is probably only five of you)! I am now a high schooler and life is definitely busier than before. I am in all honors classes, and not only are they on different floors in the school (which has three levels), but I am with sophomores and even a few juniors. That is definitely something new for me. I've managed to make a few new friends and reconcile with old ones, so life is pretty good. However, with a new school comes less time for writing; well, with a new school comes more procrastination. Therefore, I have yet to even start writing that multi-chapter fic that I was talking about in my last update. I've still got some research to do, but I've decided that once I get two or three chapters typed up, I'll post them up. But no guarantees. Because I tend to not reach my writing goals. Anyway, I just three hours of violin playing (lessons, orchestra, then full orchestra, all in a row), and my fingers hurt like hell, so ciao for now. By the way, guys, please, answer the poll! It has been up there and open for seven months now and not a single person has answered it. What's wrong with you people? Go take the poll! | |||||||
