Author has written 1 story for General.

Hi, I really don't know what to put up on here. But I came here to share and hopefully improve my writing, as well as read some other writers' work. Being part of the community and all that.

The only story I have so far is my Through the Glass, which is a very long project I've been writing for the past year. It's a "Magical Realism" tale, in the vein of Gabriel Garcia-Marquez's "100 Years of Solitude", Anna Castillo's "So Far From God" or Sherman Alexie's "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven". It follows the path of a brother and sister, along with their friends and family over the course of their teens and twenties; it deals heavily with the culture clash of spirituality, folklore, and identity of being a person of color in the mosaic of urban America during the 90s and 00s. It can be a dark tale, dealing with very serious issues, but it's not all gloom and doom. There's plenty of humor and adventure too. Hope you enjoy it.

Updates

(2-19-13): I'm going to be fixing up my story, grammar wise, but I'm plugging away at the next chapter too. So don't worry, it won't be months in between updates like last time.

I'm going to promote the following pieces:

1) Barbeed's The Infected Island: Book I, The Crystal of Light - this is an excellent piece that needs more love. It's about zombies, crazed assassins, and rescuing a princess. Great description of both setting and action, plus characters with depth.

2) Desert Hawk's Goodbye, Blue Sky - this has all the drama behind a war, occupation, survival, and standing up for oneself. It has an interesting dialogue focused style that is suspenseful and sucks you in.

1. Through the Glass » reviews
We live in a world of worlds - from class and race to gender and orientation, along with the physical and the spiritual. Often they exist right next to each other, right out the window, right on the other side of the glass. In spite of these barriers, a sister and brother will keep their bond of blood and spirit.
