9. Broken Mirror

10. I Killed Romeo and Juliet reviews

Upon reading Romeo and Juliet in class I enjoyed the story and writing. However, after doing two tests, an essay, and three projects on it (one of which involved a puppet show) my enthusiasm for the story was lacking. By the end of all that Romeo and Juliet was so stuck in my head that I wrote a poem about it.

12. Silver On Blue reviews

This was inspired by the Book of A Thousand Days in which the main character Dashti is forced into pretending to be a noble and is caught by a rival who tries to have her beheaded on a butchering block. She sees the sword raised against the sky and thinks "how pretty, silver on blue". The book also makes references to "the eternal blue sky" which is mentioned in the poem.

13. Day

This was inspired by the book Incarceron in which the inmates of an enormous prison have never seen the sky. I wrote this with a picture of a vast in doors space in mind, perpetually dark, and filled with people who have never seen and don't believe in the word or concept "day". I originally put this under Fantasy but thought about it for a while and I think it fits life better.

15. H-A-P-P-Y

This poem was inspired by the song How Do You Love Someone? I was trying to convey an issue that I've been struggling with in which I have been having difficultly feeling well, anything, but especially happiness and I have never experienced love. So yeah... I didn't really get that across in this one but I'll keep working on it :)
