Author has written 14 stories for Fantasy, Essay, General, Friendship, Family, Religion, and Humor. As of January 7th 2009, I'll be unavailable/incommunicado and I won't be posting anything for a year and a half. I'm going to serve a mission for my church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, more commonly known as the Mormon Church). I want to thank everyone who bore with me on here and read through my stories and gave me excellent advice and criticism and encouragement. Valkyrie Tempest is completed now, I really wanted to finish it before I left and I did! There's a little more information about my mission as well as a playlist/castlist on the blog. Alfsigesey.blogspot.com I've started writing Fanfiction again. The Dark Knight was just too cool and I could not resist:) http://www.Fanfiction.net/~Alfsigesey Also, here's these: http://alfsigesey.deviantart.com/ http://profile.myspace.com/alfsigesey http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=557549076 http://youtube.com/user/alfsigesey Television: The Mighty Boosh, Ugly Betty, Scrubs, Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Tick, Firefly, The IT Crowd, CSI, MST3000 & Dark Shadows. Movies: V for Vendetta, Edward Scissorhands, Lars and the Real Girl, Sweeney Todd, The Crow, Brazil, American History X, Dr. Strangelove, Labyrinth, Willow, The Princess Bride, The Fifth Element, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? LadyHawke, just about everything Mel Brooks ever made, also—the Monty Python gang and the various excellent endeavors of its members since then—particularly Terry Gillian, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Um, I just realised this list is going to get real long real fast, so I’m going to put that on pause for a bit. Music: Apocalyptica (best concert I ever went to) Rasmus, HIM, Within Temptation, Nightwish (before Tarja left, I just don’t know about this new girl yet) Rammstein, Rasputina, Muse, Incubus, My Chemical Romance, Radiohead, Scissor Sisters, Mika, Gackt, David Bowie, Queen, The Who, Moody Blues, Beatles, Type O Negative, AFI, Deathcab for Cutie. Books: Mervyn Peake, Jane Austin, Lovecraft, Oscar Wilde, Lewis Carroll, Garth Nix, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Louise Rennison, Douglas Adams, Diane Setterfield, Orson Scott Card, Diane Wayne Jones and some of Stephen King's early stuff is pretty great. Alright, this is no where near even half the list but I've got to go. I'll add more names and correct spelling later. The God Killer: My sequel to Valkyrie Tempest. Cherry is trying to get over Jonah, and finds solace in a new friend, Miguel. But he seems to have some secrets of his own and a troubling connection to a group of people who call themselves God Killers; mortals who know about the gods and aspire to steal their powers. Jackshade, meanwhile, has discovered that he's dying, but he's also been marked as a particular target by the God Killers and he may not get the opportunity to finally die of old age. The Alabaster Prince: This all started when some completely lovely imbecile said that it was, I quote; “Impossible to write a story about a girl pretending to be a boy and make it original.” …Oh yeah?! That really is how this started actually. I was just trying to prove somebody wrong and I think I’ve done it. This is another one of those fantasy stories about a girl pretending to be a man, but I promise, it is not like the others… except with all the classic deliciousness that we love. And pirates. There are a lot of pirates. Andwyrden: (Previously completely, but this is now being rewritten.) I don’t know what it is about Andwyrden, although it may not be the best thing I will ever write, or even the best thing I have written, this is my absolute favorite story. I don’t know how I even thought of it. Lea’s Faerytale just kind of fell out of my head and onto a previously blank page. If I am to recommend one story of mine for you to read, it is this one. It is hard for me to explain what it is about… it’s about growing up and loosing innocence, it’s about magic and games and card tricks and good and evil, and lies and misunderstandings, dreams, death, lace and ribbon, hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades, wedding rings and curses, water nymphs and faery’s tears, beautiful winged madmen and very silly girls. It is about sorciers, necromages, the four sides of destiny and the brightly burning stars. (Complete) The Trinket: Just when Vanda was starting to accept her fate as a, “complimentary prize to whomever father chooses to run the country, after he snuffs it” the princess finds herself, having to rely upon the help of some truly dubious individuals, in order to simply return to that miserable status, when her kingdom and dynasty are threatened by the vengeance of a psychopath and his… peculiar, friends. (Complete) Castle Mirrors:Nakita, called Kit for short, is the Beauty in this classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. Arturo is the Beast, who is actually a decently sexy guy. He’s just a major creep suffering from intense guy-PMS, ever since Kit’s mother Cundry cursed his Kingdom and turned everyone into animals. Fenrir, Angelo and Torrence are a threesome of magical investigators trying to find a way to break the curse on their people. They think they have found the answer in a Kit, but she isn't about to seduce anyone. TANGENT! No matter which why I choose to spell Proserpina/Proserpine/Persephone/Prosperine/Prosperina. SOMEONE (usually a few people) will review or instant message me to let me know I've written it incorrectly. As you can see from my demonstration above, or from a simple google-search, there are a number of different ways to spell the name of that goddess. When I spelled it Persephone people sent me messages telling me to change it. When it was Prosperina people sent me messages telling me it was wrong, and now that it's Proserpine that I've settled on, I'm still getting messages from people about changing this name. It's staying the way it is. I cannot possibly please everyone here. If you prefer a different spelling then that's fine, let me know about it and maybe popular vote will win out during a rewrite, but don't go thinking that there is a one-true-way to spell this name. There isn't. I'm using the spelling that Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley used in their play on the subject. Also, here's a nod to Ms. Shelley's help in creating the Gothic Novel. (Complete) Faery Cage: This is the third incarnation of Finding Faeries. Li is my new protagonist. She’s about to grow wings and there honestly isn’t a lot more of the story I can talk about without being frustratingly vague. This is a story about keeping secrets… so, appropriately, I’m just going to let you read if you like without knowing a whole lot. There are a few things I feel I should mention… You may have noticed that the writing style from chapter one to chapter two is… an interestingly rough transition? Shall we say? That’s because I wrote chapter one in June of 07, and chapter two in May 08. Yeah. It was a weird year… It wasn’t that I didn’t work at all on the story—I just have picked up the trend recently of writing out of order. Also, I wanted a fully matured summary before I took the project on seriously. In April 08 I wrote that summary. It’s about eight pages long, but it’s nearly complete… Enjoy! (Complete) Valkyrie Tempest: This started out as a simple exorcise in voice. I haven’t written too much in first person before, so I thought I’d try writing from a first person perspective about a particularly nice morning I had at the beach last August. I was just supposed to describe what it feels like to surf and then talk a little bit about delicious pseudo-Mexican food… then I started making lists of objects and words and feelings that I associate with the other three elements; earth, wind and fire. That’s all. So, fifty pages later, it’s almost like a quarter of a novel. The story goes thusly: Cherry is madly in love with the ocean, but it seems that the ocean doesn’t reciprocate. She often finds herself injured and in trouble while in the water. Then Ash enters, a beautiful, terminally ill Fire Goddess, looking for an apprentice to rule the world’s fire when she dies. Lucky Cherry. Our girl is taken to a modern-day ValHalla where she meets the other rulers of the elements; including Jonah; the Water God, who is responsible for all the joy and terror she has encountered while surfing the waves. Poetry & Essays: If I submit any poetry or essays, then it means I’m having severe writer’s block and I’m probably really depressed that I’m not writing one of my novels instead. Hope you enjoy! My Other Account Recently... in the past two or three years, I’ve noticed that I’ve been more inclined to start writing stories that are potentially darker and more macabre than many of you may be used to. Because of this, I created another account for myself on Fictionpress. A. December, is the name of my other account and I’ve saved one of my other stories under my favorites. The thing about Beta-Readers, and my less than amazing skills with the English language: Je t'aime! ~ Alfsigesey | |||||||||||
