..:Honors:..

2007. Scholastic Art and Writing Award - Gold Key Award - for a General Writing Portfolio, including "Technically a Stolen Heart" and "The Woman Who Loved Berries." Other works not published here include "Midwinter Festival," "Those Left Behind," "White Forest Cake," "A Darkling," and "Nebraska."

2007. Columbia College Young Authors - Honorable Mention - for "Midwinter Festival," not published here.

2006. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater - 2nd place Fantasy/Science Fiction - for "Technically a Stolen Heart." ~ The beginning of this story was written about a guy who really didn't care about me like I did. And I felt I'd been fooled. I can't believe I let the dude read it. He probably realized where the inspiration came from.

2003. Young Poets of Chicago - Finalist - for "Bitter to My Soul." ~ This poem is REALLY embarrassing. I really want to vomit on it.

..:Complete:..

Technically a Stolen Heart
This won second place at the Whitewater creative writing festival in the Fantasy category. It is a retelling of the Cupid and Psyche tale in modern bounds. Romance and mystery abound in this cute little one-shot.

The Redwood Cathedral
The classical story of a youthful adventurer on an unknown quest. Along the way he finds an old witch who is seeking the fountain of youth. When wishes are granted, the witch becomes beautiful and the adventurer falls in love. But none of them have taken into account that time is a powerful magic...

The Tale of the Very Chaste Prince & Princess
The prince and princess trot off into the distance and live happily ever after...or do they? Suddenly a dragon shows up as an unexpected guest and steals away the prince's princess. And this is no ordinary sharpen-your-claws-it's-the-maiden story. The dragon takes it a step further - and falls maddeningly in love with her! But the princess is very chaste -the innocent type. She will not fall for the dragon's charms, even if he turns into a handsome but naked man. Because she doesn't hold for that kind of stuff. She's chaste. Or is she?

Camryn Morlegg's Fables
A collection of nonsensical fables with surrealist undertones. It's helpful to read them in this order:
1. The Old Man and the Fish
2. Johnny's Hope
3. The Tragedy of Birdie Feet
4. The Girl Named Suzy
5. The Woman who Loved Berries
Just because I wrote them in that order...but the ones you REALLY have to read in order are Hope and Suzy, because Suzy is a continuation of Hope.

..:Works In Progress:..

Fairy Godmother
Sally is a recent orphan who finds that she now has to live with an unknown godmother in Chicago. What she doesn't know is that she'll be catapulted into a new world full of fairy princes, fuzzy dragons, and fortune-telling vampires. Oh, and apparently her parents were not whom she thought they were.

Green Tea and Angelface
Slowly writing this one out in my notebook. It's my portable project, about an oddball mechanic and his friendship with a green dragon. Think pirates crossed with space frontier and whimsically advanced nineteenth century British towns. Set in a made-up world, of course. Political intrigue and war abound.

Tarne
Not really a story, but a world. The stories I'm planning on creating about it incorporate its vast and complex pantheon and mythology system. One story is about a mortal who is a reincarnated god. Another is about a lost soul's love affair with the death god. And another is about the end of the world. Very cool.

..:On Hold:..

Lord of the Lake
This was actually an on-hold project for years, but now I've totally changed it and now I'm slowly but surely rewriting my version of Le Mort d'Arthur. I think this will be a very long project indeed.

Mephisto
The tale of the end of the world...and of the birth of the Antichrist. Or rather, before the birth of the Antichrist, such as, the attempted wooing of the birth mother of the Antichrist. How do you persuade a perfectly rational woman to bear the child of a Satan from Hell? Trust me, she's gonna put up a helluva fight against it.

White Thalondia
Currently experiencing a revamp of the characters and part of the plot. Expect dramatic changes.
Now under the working title "Princess!"

A Fairy's Tale
Gadrina, a fairy-in-training, is assigned to complete 1400 hours of "community service" before she is allowed to get her wings. She chooses to find brides for the crown prince, Prince Charming, but each one leaves in succession. Oh, what a mess she has gotten into!

Love Bytes
I don't know how long this will be. I don't even know what direction this will go. Maybe this will be a novella. Maybe even longer. Depends on where I take this. This one is about a hacker and a computer falling in love. But no, it's much much more than that. I'll kind of explore the boundaries of man and machine. The setting is, duh, in the future.
