Progress Log

May 4, 2007

Blah. Nothing new to report on chapter four of DYBIF. I have, however, taken a creative writing class -- and while I didn't learn anything about faerie stories (except that they're not the kind of things I should be writing), I did write a short-short story for it that I like enough to post here. I also wrote a regular short story, but I hate-hate-hate it.Oddly enough, I still got an A- in the class though. Huh.

Wow, so looking at my entries, I'm averaging about one a year. Wonderful.

Anyway, I still haven't written on DYBIF, but I did enter Nanowrimo (www.nanowrimo.org) back in November -- and I was one of the winners. I wrote 50,000 words on a story during that month, and just finished it today at 70,000 words, so I can now technically say that I have written a (short) novel. It's also a not-at-all-well-written novel, so it will never be seeing the light of day.

Still, it's by far the most ambitious thing I've ever written, and now that it's done, I plan to tackle DYBIF again. this time I really hope that I will have some progress to report by February -- even, dare I say it, the end of Chapter 4. We shall see.

Well. I rewrote pretty much the entire last half of Chapter 4, and I think it's just about there now. The stupid thing's only 3500 words, too, so I'll be glad when I can finaly say I've done it.

Recommended Reading

Sharakinpaix's stories are wonderful, and she's a very devoted writer besides! Midyear's Full Tide is a particular favourite of mine, but check out her others as well! (Writes very adorable sprites! Highly recommended!)

Morgaine of Ithil mostly writes poetry, which is always a pleasure to read! Her occaisional forays into prose result in some of the greatest stories I've ever read, however.

Guiding the Stars and The Dreamer's Club, by Cerulean Lee, are among the first (and best) stories I've read here. Looking forward to seeing what she continues to come up with!

Fire Stone, by Monsteroflockness77, Is an impressive first entry (and updates frequently, besides!) now if I could only catch up with all the chapters...

...I've talked way too much here. On to writing fiction!
