My favorite genres to write are comedy, satire, and dark comedy. My current favorite book is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. It changed my writer's world like no other book I've ever read before. At the moment, I'm reading Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut and Amanecer (Breaking Dawn), the Spanish translation of the fourth book of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga. For all you aspiring writers out there: read Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose. It's the best writing guide I've ever read because, instead of giving a set of rules, it gives you excerpts from great literature and lets you do the thinking - it teaches you to train your mind to look for the elements of literature that makes them stand the test of time. | |||||||||
