iWrite: Romance, Friendships, Flirtships

Fictionpress is my playground. After several long years of writing fanfiction, in which I rarely strayed from my third-person, fantasy romance path, I decided that I need to explore other styles of writing. Though it is true that if I ever write to publish in the real world, I will be using formal third-person prose, I felt I still needed to try my hand at other points-of-view and styles. Luckily, fictionpress is a great place to do it.

If you look below this profile, you will see the products of this experimental writing. Most will be first person short stories that are attempts to flesh out realistic characters. In the future, I will be writing some longer pieces to work on developing a character more thoroughly. You might see some formal language, some very casual writing, or even second-person as I continue to post. I might even post some stories I wrote in the past so that you can judge if I've gained any experience. Bear in mind that first-person is not my comfort zone, and neither is a realistic modern world setting. What you read will be first drafts with editing only done to eliminate grammatical and spelling errors. Having said that, I am not making any excuse for poor writing. If you feel that you can offer constructive criticism of any story, I urge you to review. That is the point of this playful exercise after all. If you just want to drop a line to say you enjoyed it, I am more than happy to read those as well. Ego-boosting is always welcome.

If you came to this profile to learn a little bit more about me as a person, here is some information. I am a sophomore studying biomedical engineering at a public Texas university. I have been writing stories ever since I was six, and I believe my first ever piece was a one-page fanfiction about the Aladdin universe I wrote in the first grade. My goal throughout childhood and even now is to eventually get published. Outside of writing, I love to read manga and watch anime. I consider myself a casual gamer, with my favorite video game series being The Legend of Zelda. If I am not reading manga, you will find my nose buried in any young adult fantasy novel or chick lit. I also enjoy action, adventure, and mild sci-fi. I am not a very social person, preferring to spend my day holed up in my dorm room (which I have heavily decorated with posters) reading or writing.

My favorite bands are My Chemical Romance, Shiny Toy Guns, and Hellogoodbye. I also enjoy a small set of other songs from various artists. When I was still in grade school, I studied piano for twelve years and Indian classical dance, Bharatnatyam, for over thirteen. Though there is only one song I can still play on the piano, I really enjoy dancing, whether it is classical, folk, or random modern combinations of hip-hop and who knows what else. I also love to collect things. My most active collections include those of books, hair accessories, souvenir spoons, and Giant Microbe plushies.

Hopefully, all this was sufficient to paint a more detailed picture of me. If not, well, I'm not exactly an artist. I'm a writer, and I hope through fictionpress and your feedback I can continue to improve in this most fascinating and challenging craft.
