For as long as I can remember my one passion had been writing. When I was four I would draw pictures on large white pieces of construction paper and write words to go with them, often just a sentence or two on a page, and bind them into books with tape. I've always known what I was going to be: a writer. For the longest time I dreamed of it, but never wrote anything much. I was an avid reader, almost to the point some might say it was unhealthy, and looking back years later I like to think of that time as researching. It wasn't until I was eight years old and a friend of mine introduced me to The Legend of Zelda, a video game for the Nintendo 64, that I first tried my own hand at story telling. We started out having sleepovers at her house every weekend and we'd wait until everyone was going to bed and the house was quiet with the sounds of snoring and slow breaths. We'd turn on the dim lamp and bathe her room in muffled honeyed light, then we'd prop ourselves up on our elbows, looking at each other over the gap between her twin beds, and she'd ask me to make up a story. And so I began to weave grand tales of Link's romantic adventures to save his one true love, Zelda, from the clutches of vile Gannondorf, speaking in hushed tones so as not to let her mom know we were still awake. I remember one where there was a cage involved and action figures to illistrate what I was saying. (you would be suprised at what eight year olds can come up with.) Eventually I started writing them down, and my friend co-wrote some things. I let myself grow, writing fanfiction after fanfiction even after I moved away from my friend to another state. It was in fanfiction where I let myself develop my still-childish skills. I look back to that time, and even to merely a year ago, and wonder how I could have ever thought those stories were good. But grew I did and learned more, growing to hunger for writing more than I hungered for food, or air. Being somewhat anti-social as it was, I began to keep a diary after I moved. I caried it around with my everywhere, giving it a name and a face and a personality, even going so far as to create a past for her and refer to her in conversations as a real person. (Yes, I know I have a problem. Is there a support group for Diary Addicts?) I guess one could call it my first try at origional stories, because I began to write my life in her pages as I would write a story. By the time I reached the third book, my diary was my best friend and an average entry was eight pages long. (I think my record was either twelve or thirteen pages.) I've long since delved into origonal stories, dabbling my hand in poetry slowly at first, like a child easing themself into really cold water. Eventually I "dove in head first" so to say. Life's hectic and busy lately, so I haven't written much of anything origonal in the last couple months other than school assignments, but I still write when I can, and figure I'll upload my things onto here slowly, uploading the old ones and the new.
