I don't have much experience with actual betareading online, but I've edited many of my friend's papers for school. I usually make a lot of marks.

I will tell you if I don't like something and offer suggestions for how to change it. I'm good at catching little things like typos and oddly structured sentences. If it means anything, I am also a college student currently taking Comp I Honors, and I'm making a strong A in there right now.

My honesty can come off harsh. It's not intentional, it's just how I work. I mark up my own work in the same way before I submit it.

Biography, general fiction, maybe horror, young adult, etc.

I don't like that "go for gags" brand of humor. In my opinion, humor should be funny because it's exactly how it would really happen. Every now and then I'll like a story that goes for gags, but it has to have some substance, too. Also, science fiction. I have nothing against the genre, I'm just not the person to go to if you want help trying to name a new race or explain the mechanics of a spaceship and make it sound plausible. In the same vein, while I'd be happy to betaread historical fiction, I am not an expert on any area of history and will simply be looking at literary merit.
