I'll read just about anything provided the author has an actual desire to truly improve. I like to think I'm fair and actually fairly optimistic, seeing the good in most stories.

One thing you can be assured of, a review from me will never be simply platitudes on how great a writer you are. I believe no one is so amazing a writer they cannot improve.

I have a good grasp of story, whether that is displayed in my own fiction or not, as well as characters and character interaction.

A voracious reader since my youngest years I have a good sense for how a sentence ought to be worded, when something is awkward, or when dialog sticks out as hokey or out of character.

Maybe most the most endearing quality about me is my willingness to read any level of fiction from acceptable to everyone, to mature readers only.

I'm no grammar expert as anyone that has read my writing can tell you. Don't expect me to be able to catch every punctuation or niggling little grammar error you make.

Action

Fantasy

Science Fiction

Horror

Mythical

Historical

Western

I cannot beta read poetry at all.

Romance that is extremely blase will quickly induce my ire.

As will any 'angst' that is simply that with no basis as to how or why the character would feel that way.

It isn't that I won't read these genre, just that I tend to be a harsh judge on what I consider proper quality. Please be sure your story is the cat's meow if you want me to beta read it in these categories.
