|Reviews for The Earth by the Somme|
| Kievsky chapter 1 . 1/25/2003
This is very nicely done. I love how you manage to connect Mahon's thoughts about the Somme to his family, ancestry, the homeland, and that homeland's war so many years ago-and still make Mahon a vital part of it. And the end makes it. Even though you bring up his broken leg in the summary, when it finally arrives the scene is still poignant and strangely beautiful. Wonderful.
