Reviews for Amen
E. Gao chapter 1 . 5/24/2003
wondering:

have you ever heard the scheherazade suite by rimsky-korsakov? it's gorgeous

and this is gorgeous as well, something that makes me wonder about smaller truths, like

were those whispers real,

did the cold really kill the daffodil

(and if so, if it could be brought back to life with a kiss)

and if the night will be given willingly or solicited by melodious chords,

but the scene is too frenzied to focus on earthshattering answers, so I

see only the blackwhite and the other flowers and painter's hands and

wonder why these scenes never appear in my dreams at night.

(forgive me for not reviewing lately...)

Ah wow. This is...amazing, really. I love the first stanza, the Scheherazade allusion, and I love the

"and did the cold kill the daffodil?"

line.

Beautiful! Must review more...

I love the flower imagery and how the flowers go along with the actions- "did the cold kill the daffodil?" is such a beautiful statement of that indescribable emotion.
