Reviews for The Diva Pixie |

![]() ![]() ![]() Alright, the author hasn't logged in for 15 years, so there's virtually no chance of her ever seeing this. And this story is 20 years old as well. TWENTY. No one's left a review in a decade either, so I'll be the lone person to do it instead. I read both "The Diva Pixie" and "Hello Kitty" and it becomes immediately obvious that the latter story is a revision of the former. Brandon and Belle have very similar personalities - as well as near identical backgrounds/backstories - to Jude and Lira. Brandon and Jude are both pretentious jackasses with rich/old-money parents and a big mansion. Belle and Lira are both immature to a fault, and with serious anger issues, with the absent/dead parents being the primary reason for that. Minor details and plot points, despite the stories taking place in different settings, have also been borrowed over. It would be fair to say that "Hello Kitty" is definitely more polished and well-thought out rather than this one - for example, in "The Diva Pixie" certain scenes seem to needlessly drag out and petty character arguments last for a long time without getting to the point, but "Hello Kitty" doesn't, for the most part, have that issue. I don't think 'filler' scenes are necessarily bad by themselves - stories of every kind need to, and should exist, like fast-paced stories where there is very little breathing room, or slow romance stories that take 50 chapters before the main couple gets together, and I think Brandon and Belle definitely fall within the latter category. Brandon and Belle's story actually works here as a sort of a montage - rather than a linear story with A-to-B plot points - presenting it as snippets from their lives/tour together as a somewhat unstable/rocky relationship that steadily transforms into something different, and we eventually get to see more tender scenes between the lead characters instead of them bickering all the time. Overall, I had fun reading it, and a compelling story can still be good, even if it has dated references to pop culture and world events (in chapter 14, "Bottles upon bottles of liquor were scattered over the floor, clothes were strewn all over the place, it looked like one of George W. Bush's war zones." had me almost spitting out my drink LOL). I'm definitely going ahead to read the sequel to this novel, and then the author's other stories I haven't touched upon yet after that. :) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ha, i loved it. Bran was so unbeliably immature that it was just so much more amusing. Maybe a bit too immature to be realistic, but it's a story so who cares. i still loved it :) |
