Reviews for America! America! |
---|
![]() ![]() ![]() I know no one's been reviewing this for a while (and might not ever) but there's some really stupid opinions that I just have to respond to. The whole Clinton thing? Let's get over that, hmm? Yes, yes, he lied, boo hoo it's bad, BUT let's not forget his ability to run the freaking country, people! That's what the job is all about! Not everyone liked either of the Roosevelts, but where would we be without them? ClintonBiggest Economic Surplus in over 60 years, in 8 years of Bush what do we have? Well... I could go on about a lot of the other things (Oh how I could) but I'll settle it at this. It's poetry like this that celebrates what being American is all about, not every expression of freedom has to be "Woo hoo! America rocks! Have my babies America!" No. Freedom is this poem and we write these poems because we love America, we just hate what's happening to it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I can see where you're coming from. We haven't had a good president for a while... I'm American, so this kind of offended me at first, but I realize what you're saying... Oh well... |
![]() ![]() ![]() 2 words: bull shit. sorry, nicly writen poem, but no one country is perfect, if you really hate it so much, then *gasp* leave. i dont underdstand when people bach america/ns when they infact live there. its always just a question in my mind...go live in another country where you can live happily. i know, how bout iraqu or whatever where wemon have to show no skin what so ever and have to wear black in the hot sun, even covering their faces. THAT sounds like fun! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Brava! This is great! "Run, it's the abominable snowman!" Laterz... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Good job "Shuzu, you put the state of this country better than I ever could. And just something to say to Curious you may be right in some cases about why people don't leave America but has it ever occured to you that maybe they don't have the money to up and move to another country? Or perhaps they don't want to leave their family members? Not all people don't leave because they think this country is "the only country of its kind". And some people do leave, so it's all relative I suppose. Anyway Shuzu I loved it. Very well written and very true. |
![]() ![]() First of all, I'd like to ask you some little questions: 1) If there is foul sewage rotting in America, then shouldn't there actually be MORE rotting sewage in, say, Liberia or Saudi Arabia? More guns and knives? 2) If questioning's a sin, then why aren't you being persecuted? Why have almost all of your reviews been so fawning? Was fear so free to roam that it took great courage to post this poem? 3) You hint at American racial discrimination; if equality is 'just a lame cliche,' then why are there so many affirmative action programs? 4) If America is a proud and boastful tyrant, then what does that make Saddam Hussein, the man who murdered 400,0 Iraqis and had 'SADDAM HUSSEIN, THE BEST RULER OF IRAQ AND SERVANT OF ALLAH' inscribed on every brick of a palace? My point is this: America may have its faults, but no other country on the face of the earth could rival it. We may not be a perfect country, but at least we're not a cowardly country who lets innocents suffer, or a brutal country who kills millions of its citizens on a whim. And, as the very existence of this poem proves, you can say anything you want in America without fear of punishment. Free speech in the raw! Okay. I'm done spouting my opinion. Besides all of the above mentioned, your poem was well-written and an interesting take-off on our anthem. Good job. |
![]() ![]() Let me say this first. I really liked how you wrote this peom, but I have some questions and opinions for anyone out there. If America was not so free then how come we have everyone bashing the President out loud without reprimands? How come we have people burning the American flag? How come people say they hate America so much, yet they choose to stay? Does that make sense? If they hate America so much why don't they leave? I'll tell you why they don't leave. They don't leave because America is the only country of its kind. We have more freedom than any other country put together. Freedom that a lot of people died for; freedom that they are still protecting this very minute. About Abraham Lincoln if you read into it more then you would see that he is not the best person everyone says he is. Granted he wasn't the worst person, but if you read his writings than you might have a different opinion about him. I have a different opinion because we had to look things up for our American History class. I found a lot of stuff that he said that was not really great. Now, about Bush how can you say he so stupid when we had President Clinton. Just look at President Clinton I mean he lied so much that no one can count them. Bush has his bad points, but I agree with him much more then Clinton. Clinton is a demagogue. I agree with SwEETlirOcKnRoLLa and Jess, but then againg have you guys ever heard of the electoral college. Not to sound mean or anything. Technically Gore won the popular vote in America, but President Bush won the most votes in the electoral college. Therefore he won the Presidency. I am glad of that even though some aren't. Some of my friends would probably agree with everything this poem says. I respect that, but I don't agree with it. P.S. Sorry if I made anyone mad, but these are my opinions. Don't judge me by them though because you still don't know me. I have a lot of friends that don't agree with me, yet they are still my friends. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like it! And you are SO write, America HAS died. Write more! |
![]() ![]() ![]() yep. that's america. i'd know what country you were talking about even without the "america! america" every 5 lines. and the abraham, july, and all men are created equal thing. that's my home. |
![]() ![]() ![]() HELLS YEAH! reminds me of "Land of the not-so-free." or is it "Home of the not-so-brave."? I don't know... ANYWAY.. You are soo awesome.. STR8 2 my faves list, you go! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like its tone, and how it flows. plus I like its subject. bravo |
![]() ![]() I dont agree with your poem, though it IS nicely written. I agree with SwEETlilrOcKnRoLLa...every word she/he said, i agree with it. Why has america pissed ya off? I dont see why alot of idiots (no offence to u..) are running around screaming Bad Bush, Horrible America. ETC...it really irritates me that people wernt yelling at clinton as much as they yell at Bush. |
![]() ![]() Hmm... Well, I personally don't agree with anything here, but I'll admit that it is very nicely written. One word to "Druid of Crimson Evensong", though: If President Bush is as stupid as you make him out to be, how did he manage to become president, hmm? But then again, the American people somehow got Clinton into the White House... |
![]() ![]() ![]() heh. flawlessly expresses my views, and i commend you for breaking the 9/11 no more being mean to america or we cry and yell at you rules. why is it that because we got our pretty buildings blown up (which, i might add, has happened to lots of other places and no one cared any where near as much!) no one can say anything true about america without getting endless glares and reprimanding. anyway, i love it. i think it should be the new anthem. we, let's write to the president! he's so goddamn stupid he'd most likely would take this as a compliment. that would be terribly amusing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Britain! Britain! Only kidding. This is great. What have the Americans done to upset you this time? I know whats buggin me about the British government . . . Anyway, this is brilliant. Bob: Yup. *rolls eyes* Thats all he says recently. Dunno why. Kazzi |
