Reviews for Kindness
plok chapter 1 . 7/19/2006
Yeah, it definitely does seem like something Pearl S. Buck would write. The character kind of reminded me of the Wang the Second in Sons.

I think the moral of the story is how vulnerable the human desire for affection leaves us. This was a great and powerful man who ended up in poverty because of love. Too bad.
Okami-mesu chapter 1 . 4/28/2005
This is a beautiful little anecdote! It reminds me of the book "Good Earth".
Noir Fleurir chapter 1 . 3/12/2005

Shadow Dragon 777 chapter 1 . 8/8/2004

htmraw chapter 1 . 12/2/2003
...That was almost as good as Wisdom *smile*.
I think the moral is that when you help people and sacrifice things for them you become part of them so you never really lose what you have given up because it continues on even when the rest of you has been lost.
Wow, that's quite inspiring if I do say so myself.
If you have the time please write something new.
Bye

i luv this story! i've never read another like it, and i like how u have based it upon Confucious belief.

i like the happy ending, and how Fune Hui started out to be such a selfish man and became the opposite as soon as he met Mirth. a very clever story, with a moral that gives me a lot to think about. i would like it if you would continue to write more stories such as this!

Madrynea chapter 1 . 11/21/2003
Good idea, but you could develop it and make it much more touching. More detail, more about Mirth's love for her father (as it is, it sounds a bit like she just loves him for the money), more character development. You should also try to avoid phrases such as "he got hooked", that's far too colloquial for a serious text like this one.

Keep it up!
