Very nice metaphor. Coincidentally, just came back from Phoeniz, AZ...very pretty paintings of a phoenix in the Sky Harbor airport down there. But I'm digressing. Love the sadness in connection with the phoenix. If you are going to write a story, how about making it about a phoenix? I recommend reading the short story "A Worn Path" by Eudora Welty. The main character's name is Phoenix and there's a lot of symbolism in the story. Good job anyways :)
