Aw...she couldn't kill him. I sense a possible relationship. Joy. Birth-names...I like that, it lends emotion to the moment. Do people only ever call those who are really close by them? Or do they get a different name later? Or both?

I love strong, violent female characters. Especially when they beat male characters. It's an interesting way of pickying a leader, a fight to the death. Although personally I wouldn't want a leader who was picked by killing someone they probably knew well and were friends with. But hey, since in this case neither of them die, what should I care? It's kind of Japanese sounding, the idea that people would rather die than yield and be thought of as cowards. I don't know if honor being more important that life makes much sense, to me at least. Anyway, I'm not quite sure why the villagers hate him. His father hates him because of his mother, right? But why do the villagers hate him...

I really like your story...(I know that's a bad way to start a review because it doesn't say anything, but halfway through the story I realized I was so stuck in it I forgot to be nice and review all the chapters. So now I shall try, although I might at some point give up and go back to reading. I'll try to pretend for now I don't know what happens in the next chapters but I doubt it will work.)

I don't like the Shukar. At all. And I really want to know what happened with Strife's mother. I don't like the villagers much, either, but that's not really their fault, I guess. *flies away*

Lovely lovely lovely. This really is turning out to be a most intriguing story! It'ss cool how Edge can still joke even when things are serious- i like that in it's time to call it a night, but i can't wait to read more. :)

Your fight scenes are very detailed; it makes it so much easier see it happening! I love that we are seeing a much darker side to Edge, and that we are learning more about his past. It's awesome the way you never really come out and say it all at once- you just drop hints every here and there. It's most captivating. :)

Oh man, this chapter made me 'aww' out loud! The interactions between Strife and Siren are so cool, especially when he forfeits for her! Totally sweet! And yup, im thinking Edge is definately my fave. :)

One thing i noticed-

"Strife and Siren unsheathed their swords almost unconsciously"

Perhaps it should be "subconsciously"- unconsciously i think is the wrong word there. It sounds like they are ready to pass out. Whereas subconsciously implies that they do it without thinking about it, which i think is what you were going for.

Either way, i'm loving it. It's all very exciting! :)

Its a wonderful beginning, and i really love your charaters so far. I am eager to find out what Siren is like, and even though he hasn't been it it much yet, Edge is already my fave character. He seems pretty cool.

Usually in my reviews i point out some flaw in the grammar, but it seems you've got that under control! So i have no criticisms to make. Hopefully ill get the chance to read more soon, and i'll review again. Til then, keep writing. :)

I just came across your story yesterday and all I can say is 'Wow'. It's original (I was getting tired of all the vampire, elf, faerie, etc. stories) and very well-written. I like how it switches back and forth between perspectives and the characters are well-developed. Hopefully more details can be revealed about Strife's past soon. Seems like Siren's the only one who doesn't have that bad of a past. And I have to say the fight scenes are really impressive-those are my favorites-you can really picture what's going on clearly. The death scene in this chapter was well-written too. All in all, I can't wait to read more! Please update soon!

Ooh, cool chappie! The showdown between Siren and Konishi has come to an end. Great job on the action sequences, I wonder why an attacker helped her out? Great job and I can't wait to read what happens next!

OMG! It's been such a long time since I read this story! I'm sorry, one thing led to another and I just never found the time. Well, anyways, I'm back now and still loving it!

The action in this was written really well. It was slow enough that I never got confused but fast enough so that it didn't drag. Siren's a tough gal and Edge is still incredibly cool. Ah, how I love cool men -. Great chapter and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Great, it is orginal, quirky in places and has got fight scenes. I like the way you have a deeper quality to all of your characters and they aren't always as they seem. Great work! I'm going to read more as soon as I can.
