I like how your story is based on the lyrics of the song. It's very creative. I have a little suggestion though, maybe you could add a little more dialogue rather than so much information all in the first chapter. To me, it's a little unrealistic that Jake is so soppy and in love with her and she doesn't even realize it, but of course it's a fictional romance and it's supposed to be a little unrealistic, I guess. This is a great story. I love how you've portrayed Jake's felings toward Katie and how deeply he cares for her. I can't wait to see what happens next :) But I'm sorry your friend died. I'll be praying for yours and the girl's family. I'll ask Jesus to send peace to you. Oh. I love Speachless by S.C. Chapman too _ It's one of my favorite songs.
