Reviews for Size 12
Soleil Antoinette chapter 1 . 6/14/2004
I hate it when people are really small minded. When they see a big person, they automatically start sneering. Maybe they could perhaps put themselves in their shoes - see what it is like to be a big person when all your life you've been trim and in shape. The world would be a better place for everyone. And even, size 2 - who came up with a size 2? There weren't even size 2 or size 0 30 years ago, because no one WAS that small!
Now it's not the rat race that concerns us, but what size the competitors are! It has become a really sad world, when we have starving people around the globe who eat as much food in a year as normal people eat in a month, but we are too self centered and only think of us and how we need to get skinnier than a size 0!
Many of the models in the magazines, even many actresses in movies are just too skinny, they don't even look healthy! Why would anyone want to be like them? The media has literally brainwashed people into thinking a certain way and doing certain things. It would help if people would keep an open mind about more things and believe in themselves. A bit more manners and graciousness wouldn't hurt either.
Tribecca chapter 1 . 6/11/2004
One thing, is you shouldnt care so much what others say. Secondly, Mia Tyler is also a plus-size model, if you're interested. Thirdly, body image isn't everything. I, personally, like respect for something other than my body.
This essay was very well-written. Keep working and don't let others get the better of you. Answer questions in class, because that gets you on the teacher's good side, and that's nice.

if you're healthy, dont care what they say about size. i feel ya here.

Miamouse chapter 1 . 5/2/2004
Hi.
Someone said Marilyn Monroe was a size 14. I thought it was 16, but I might be wrong.
There's nothing wrong with being a size 12, not at all. The average size in England is now 16 for women. Also, studies show that women who are less skinny have less chance of osteoperosis (which is the primary reason why older women break bones and have movement problems).
You can only be your natural size, and the way society dictates what should be "natural" is disgusting. I'm size 14 on top, 10 at the waist and 12 at the hips... (uk sizes) I think maybe life isn't hard for me because I get the whole "hourglass figure" which men like. But what men (or boys in you class) think doesn't matter. Do they want a stick, or do they want a woman? Eventually they'll grow up and realise what prats they've been.
KimmyStarr chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
I know the feeling. Countinue writing more stories, you seem to have a great style.
Ella Carter chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
Hey,MythGalatea!
GREAT writing. I love your style.
I'm enraged by all of the stress that society puts on teenagers to be skinny; to be that size 2; to be anorexic and to be bulimic! Seriously, thats the only way to be that small- if youre sick. But if they want to create holes in their hearts because they want to be "sexy" that's their problem.
(sorry but it makes me really mad Lol)

ffyona chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
yes! tell them, tell all the shallow bitches!
m i loved this, don't let them drag you down, anyone who judges on size is clearly not worthy of you (although i know that doesn't really stop it hurting when people are mean).
but i'm kind of confused now, i think maybe we're all talking about different sizes because where i am (in britain) i'm pretty sure you don't get size 2s... aren't US sizes smaller? would an american (i'm assuming that's where you are because you talk about grades rather than years, correct me if i'm wrong) size 12 be different to a UK size 12?
damn it's confusing... i was all set to go on a big rant about how size 12 is actually below the average size (14!) but luckily i actually read the essay and figured out the size differences before i did.
oh look! there's proof again that you can't judge by appearances!
good job!

darkhorse chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
id like to be a size twelve. however, just beacuse im not, doesnt mean that im not happy with myself. anyone who calls me fat knows they can kiss this fat ass. wonderfully written and definitely shove that barbie up that boys ass. if all girls should be like barbie, maybe all boys should be like ken: no genitals.
On Mercury chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
Dude, I'm size 12 and I am 12 YEARS OLD! There are so not a lot of size 2 s. I may look 14 but you can still tell that I am not totally slim, however, until I hear about like you have from ignorant, shallow boys who go for bimobes (not all s are bimboes by the way).
Personally, I just boys like that.
Like you say, hold your head up high, we are what we are.

Rising Apocalypse chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
Take it from me, being thin has its own set of problems, especially when it comes to clothes. I'm a size 6 technically, but can I *find* any size six clothes? No, so I always end up having clothes that hang off me, whereas all the other girls I know can wear more stylish tops without looking as if they're three sizes too big. Also, if you're too thin, a girl can also have menstrual problems and suffer from anemia amongst other things.

There is nothing wrong with being 'fat'. In fact, I wish I could be a size twelve, I'd happily accept it. You're not fat in any way, sizes 10 and 12 are the average sizes for women, regardless of what all the famous people look like.

Barbie, heh, I remember that 'study' in year nine. Problem is, if she were real, her proportions would be something akin to 40-16-28, which is not possible. I haven't heard anything about 'Emme', evidently she hasn't crossed the Atlantic ocean yet ;). Hopefully introducing her will show people that you don't have to be stick-thin to be attractive, it's mainly about your personality.

You can be a size 6 b*tch-from-hell or you can be a size 14 ambitious girl. Very recently in the UK version of Pop Idol a woman named Michelle won, which infuriated Simon Cowell. Why? She was a size 18, but it didn't matter to the audience; she was herself and that's what people went for, not someone who looked pretty but actually had some talent and represented what 'real' people were like.

bobbysinblack chapter 1 . 4/30/2004
what the fuck is wrong with being size fucking 12? is size 12 where you live like super big or different to australian size because im size 12 and there are heaps of girls like me at school! dont be so down on yourself, tell that girl to shove her barbie doll up her ass, she sounds like a complete ditz to me. and dont take things so seriously, i bet you're beautiful enough, and i think that guy does too!
darling jordanella chapter 1 . 4/29/2004
BEEP, WE HAVE A WINNER! You're an excellent writer, and weight doesn't matter. Ever. Trust me, being thin isn't fun either. Nothing fits, and you still get made fun of. Never let anyone tell you that you're "fat," because you're most certainly not. I loved it. Adding to my favorites right now.
The Microwave Oven
your guilty pleasure chapter 1 . 4/29/2004
WOH! GO U! U r an amzing writer and I'm sure you are beautiful to- screw the guy that said that- he isn't even worth your glance! be pround of who you are and how you look! I woulda slapped him- no I'm not a size to girl being hypocritical- I'm size 10 and I agree that the world can be cruel and un-fair sumtimes- but take it as it is and slap those who make u feel bd _~

fugiguru chapter 1 . 4/29/2004
you are not fat in the least. you sound healthy to me. but i think that no matter how many times someone tells you that you aren't fat, you still feel that way. i'm a size 8 and i have body image issues, (and been called fat. not subtly, either) but it helps to know that my friend is a size 0, and SHE (stupidly) thinks she's fat/ugly too. i think that all girl (maybe boy?) adolescents have body image issues. don't let people tell you you're fat, beause they obviously have impossible standards and have no idea what they are talking about.
Death Is Life153 chapter 1 . 4/29/2004
Uh I can't really relate cause i'm a anerexia border person (not on purpose either) but I can say I feel sorry for you if this is non-fiction. I hate it when people have a perfect image of what all girls should look like in thier minds. I think people being different in some way is great.
