i am overwhelmed by this poem everytime i read it, for itself and your gift of it, but also knowing and remembering the time and circumstances that surrounded it. He never lets go, does He?

Wonderful. I love the intensity and earnestness of this poem. Also the fragility and childlike need of the speaker. All these I can really identify with. Having been betrayed and disappointed a lot in the past, I often feel like that, too, barely able to trust and believe there would really be a love that holds on to us no matter how we behave or what comes. Have a look at my sonnets "Doubts" (if you want) for the same theme ...

This is extremely powerful - one feels the emotion surge through it, created by the two lines 'I love you' and 'Don't let go'. They seem to surround, or even 'embrace' the rest. I am deeply touched by this - there's a lot of pain involved? The short phrases are very 'concentrated'. Your work is brilliant. Thanks.
